Pepper by a long shot. Rubber Soul is better than Revolver, imho. Do like Dr. Robert though.

Boy that's an interesting comment! Not sure if I agree with it or not, but it's certainly a compelling comment. I'll have to think about it! :)

Revolver by a country mile. The only other album that comes close is Pet Sounds.

I think the answer is "yes."

I love Sgt. Pepper, but the songwriting is in my opinion a little uneven or unrealized in places on that album. Imagine how much more powerful the album would have been both musically and conceptually had Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane been on it as originally intended.

Surpised by the wide margin on this one.

    I went with Sgt. Pepper

Revolver...best Beatles album by far. But I still prefer the US version that I grew up with:winkgrin:

Revolver. It's not even close - Rubber Soul vs. Revolver would be a much better match to me.

Revolver. Much stronger on a song-by-song basis. The only thing that bothers me is the ADT, which gives some of the vocals a strange, almost metallic timbre. Add the Paperback Writer/Rain 45 to the timeframe, and you have a formidable creative period for the group.

I'd have to put The White Album as Lennon's last blast of brilliance with the group.

Except for Revolver vs. Love Beach. That wouldn't be fair.

Revolver for sure. IMO, Revolver is WAY better than Pepper. Don't get me wrong; I like Pepper a lot too.

  14. Revolver, easily. IMHO the only Beatles album with no filler, and yeah I know "Yellow Submarine" is on there.

I don't mean to threadcrap...but I agree. Lennon's White Album material really does it for me. Lennon in 67 was beyond brilliant.... there aren't even words to describe...

Sgt. Pepper. If for no other reason than that was a GREAT summer!

Revolver because it had 3 songs by George.

  18. The UK Revolver is the Beatles best album, and maybe the best album ever by anyone.

But IMO, their best song is "A Day In The Life."

  21. This might be a taboo subject on SHTV, but I feel that all the hokey McCartney tracks on Sgt. Pepper kill the vibe.

Revolver for me anyways. Had "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields Forever been included on Sgt. Pepper maybe we'd have a different story here.

The only Paul song I would possibly consider "hokey" might be "When I'm 64," so I'd be interested in which other Pepper tracks of Paul's you would consider hokey ?

I still don't mind "When I'm 64" because I remember it in the context of the album's original release. It was yet another example of the Beatles stretching musically and doing something different, but viewed years later , I can see why folks might not care for it.

Pepper. To me, it's a masterpiece. Revolver is great too, but it simply doesn't have the flow and beauty that Pepper does.

Though I may be a bit biased, as that was the first Beatles album I was introduced to.
