I was watching a documentary on American folk music. It must have been late 00's. Mary Travers was using oxygen. Michelle Phillips is even looking old. The old hippy guys, though were looking in good shape.
Roger McGuinn was doing his usual schtick where he shows how he changed the arrangement of traditional folk songs to make them more rock (Beatlelize as he said in this one). I have never seen a documentary or interview where he did not do this.

I met with and worked with Michelle Phillips around 1980, and she looked dynamite back then. It's sad that time and gravity inevitably take their toll on all of us.

Not very informative but fun near the end when Tom Petty gleefully talks about how grunge "mowed them (hair metal) down like wheat".

I've seen this before and enjoyed it, but I really need subtitles that aren't there for about half of it.

Just saw an excellent documentary last evening, BBC Prog Rock Britannia An Observation in Three Movements; otherwise the evolution of progressive rock in Great Britain. Wonderful interviews with Bill Bruford, Rick Wakeman, Collins/Rutherford/Banks, and interviews lesser known prog vets such Caravan and Egg. Narrated by Nigel Planer, aka, Neil of The Young Ones.

Recommended. And it's on You Tube.

I like record label (small labels) documentaries because they give you a view of a period of time and place.
Rough Trade documentary is interesting (even if I don't like a lot of their bands).

The other night, my wife & I got caught up in watching the very compelling documentary "As The Palaces Burn" on Palladia. The film tells the story of the metal band Lamb of God's 2012 tour that culminated in the lead singer being charged with manslaughter for the crowd-surfing death of an audience member at a show in the Czech Republic. The band's music isn't necessarily to my taste, or my wife's, however we found the people, the story and the film to be incredibly riveting. Highly recommended.

I watched this on youtube. Sort of a cross between a informative and performance documentary. If you like Jefferson Airplane, you will like it.
Not overly informative - except - I never knew about the rooftop performance.
