He should have been a first round pick for the R&RHOF. Just like Link Wray.

Only nine votes for Etta James? I despair...

    I went for:

Etta James (obviously! A real trailblazer for women in R'n'B with an astonishingly long career effortlessly bridging pure blues, R'n'B, soul and funk. Classics include At Last, Tell Mama, Dance With Me Henry and I'd Rather Go Blind.)

T.Rex (I know they didn't mean a great deal in the US and they put out a fair amount of crap later on, but they were huge in the UK and I love them! Without Bolan there's no Glam Rock and that includes Bowie, Roxy Music, Queen, Sparks and New York Dolls. Their best records still sound fresh too. Great production)

Black Sabbath (Incredibly influential. They almost single handedly invented heavy metal with their sound and imagery. Fantastic band who've stood the test of time well.)

The Bee Gees (across decades they wrote some of the most instantly identifiable and loved pop songs of all time. Covered by many, the Gibb Brothers are incredible melodic songwriters)

Nina Simone (who covered several Bee Gees songs. A lot of what I wrote about Ella applies here too. But Nina's extraordinary talent along with her fearless attitude and militant stance ensure she has to be acknowledged.)

Fleetwood Mac (If commercial success, incredible songwriting talent and outstanding musicianship are considerations, then Fleetwood Mac belong here, both in the Peter Green led line up and the totally different Rumours era)

Small Faces / Faces (Simply, they've made a lot of people happy with their music and it continues to this day. Incredibly talented bands aswell. For Ronnie Wood's best guitar playing by far, don't go to the Rolling Stones!)

This is very difficult. I tried to keep it somewhat to those in the Rock genre, even though obviously that's not relevant in the "real" world of the HOF.
