Had an original UK sealed Voodoo Lounge and Bridges to Babylon many times in my hand at my local store 15-18 years ago. Always kept thinking "next time I´ll buy it".

There you go. Next time might never come, or maybe it will 24 and 21 years later. If they decide to release these titles individually. In this day and age ALL titles should be available on vinyl.

I got offered £100 for my Bridges to Babylon today - I'd put it up for sale to contribute to this box and was going to do the same with a few others, but in the end I just couldn't go through with selling it. A moment of madness.

I always thought it odd that the cover was classy but the innards were so rude. Maybe Too Rude.

I can hang on to your 3rd one for you if you want !

I'm so pissed I just don't have the funds right now, hope this will stay up for sale long !

  7. I'm sure the box will be available for a few years. Stash away $20 a month for the next couple of years and its yours. A few less cappuccinos each month :tiphat:

I’m not surprised your friends feel this way about Universal, who takes the path of least resistance by using substandard plants and hardly does all AAA cuts.

So they are re-mastering Exile and Sticky Fingers again?
IMO- the new S. Fingers sounds pretty good and has received good mentions.

Which Album was the first one originally mastered from digital files?
    Dirty Work?

Give me "Sticky Fingers," "Exile on Main Street," and "Some Girls" and I am set for vinyl needs. Maybe "Tattoo You" as a bonus. I find too much of their studio output from the 1971 - 2016 to be uneven to find such a massive box appealing. Most of the albums, including relatively good ones like "Black And Blue," I rarely play cover to cover anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love the band, and enjoy a lot of their output through 2016, but IMO by the mid-1970's, most of their best work was behind them, at least in terms of consistency.

Now, if the new Exile sounds better and less compressed than the current half-speed, which is mastered by Miles too, using another transfer from the master tape, will someone explain to us all the marketing bulls**t we ate about the marvelous sound quality of that edition? Will they acknowledge that they knew that they were going to master from a flawed and highly compressed transfer? I think we all know the answer. Oh and, any word explaining the extremely limited "one time run" blurb will be welcome too.

I'm guessing these new editions are based on the original UK artworks. That's why.
The stickers version of Undercover was only for the US.

    But we will have:
    -working zip on Fingers
    -12 postcards for Exile
-Cut out original cover for Some girls
    -Giant poster for Emotional rescue
-red shrink wrap for Dirty work

If you're gonna sell it, do it quick. The ideal time to sell is when there's no reissue on the horizon. That said, you might catch someone unaware of this box (or someone willing to spend a lot on an original VL who doesn't care about the reissue).... But all you gotta do is look at Tom Petty's Wildflowers to see that the asking price on an original dropped by about 70% after the new box came out. (Plus the reissue blowing away the original didn't help....)

  18. I’m surprised most about the red shrink on Dirty Work. Especially as I didn’t think any LPs in this set would be shrink-wrapped. I wonder if the others will be shrink wrapped (clear shrink)? Although for Dirty Work, maybe they thought anything that obscures that horrible cover photo is a good idea ;)

Right now, Soundstage Direct has the box for $324.99. I've used 'em before. Good company.

This might explain why the price of Exile was reduced on Amazon a few weeks ago.

That price seems to be for the mono box. The new '71 - '16 box is fifty bucks more than that.

15k to 20k (which I think is low) of a 16 LP set is ~250,000 units. In 2016, that’s pretty decent actually for a mono box IMO.

900 boxes sold in the UK? There had to be that many purchased by UK members here...

In that case I suppose they considered the red shrink wrap to be a part of the artwork for Dirty work. Think about the black shrink that wrapped the Floyd's Wish you were here. It is, in a way, totally part of the artwork.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dirty work is the only album in the box to be wrapped.

Each album will be pressed at MPO in France, one of Europe’s finest plants to ensure the highest fidelity experience for fans. The boxset will contain a download card with high-res audio .WAV downloads (Ex. US/CA). Strictly limited edition one-off run featuring numbered certificate of authentication.

Anyone know much about MPO and what other boxes/albums/similar releases they have done?
