Yay, I hope the other Sean Magee remasters will be released on CD soon too.

Why change the cover though? I understand doing a different cover for the main box, but why the CD and LP inside?

I hope they will do a Farewell to Kings set soon, as it's my favourite Rush album.

I'm a huge Rush fan, but not interested. I don't care about covers by other artists and why would I want Massey Hall outtakes when All the World's a Stage is a masterpiece from Massey Hall? Plus I think side 2 of 2112 is not exactly their finest material, although side 1 of course deserves all the praise it gets. Plus I got that video from the underground several years ago and it's only B&W.

I'm likely gonna pass this up since the extras don't look intriguing to me. In addition to that, the live show on the DVD already appeared on the R40 box set, and I'd rather get it there. BTW, is Sean's 2112 remaster better than the original Anthem and MFSL CD's? If so, then maybe I'll change my mind and wait for a good deal on this reissue.

I haven't heard any of the Magee remasters myself but in the thread about the LP and Hi-Res rerelease campaign a lot of people were raving about them and claimed that in many cases these are the best masters ever. I will definitely check out 2112. Hope they don't add any compression.

The Magee remaster is better than the original Atomic and also MFSL. The VanDette remaster is crap! IMO

    Awful cover

And the 2112 'Tribute' CD is absolutely pointless, except for the RUSH material

I'm a huge fan but I think the extras are awful IMO. Couldn't they include a disc of demos/alternate takes, etc..instead of having a disc of cover versions???

Nice to see Steven Wilson associated with this project, even if it's just for a cover song. Hopefully this will turn into something more in the way of him remastering their catalog.

  14. Jacob Moon does a really cool live version of Subdivisions. I would like to hear his take on Something for Nothing, but I can't say that this set is calling to me.

Since I never picked up the hologram edition vinyl originally I'll probably spring for this. I'm interested in the Massey Hall outtakes however I feel that they should save those for an All The Worlds A Stage Deluxe set. Release all 3 nights at Massey Hall. That would be a dream.

Looks like Steven recorded the Twilight Zone live, with his current touring band (Dave Kilminster, Nick Beggs, Craig Blundell & Adam Holzman), in the exact same way he recorded Space Oddity/The Book Of Regrets etc.

    From Dave's facebook:
The Steven Wilson Band recorded a new version of 'The Twilight Zone' during soundcheck in Linz, Austria earlier this year... and that's been included in this new collection, which also contains live and previously unreleased tracks by Rush...

And I'd love to see SW Rush remix project come into reality, too. At least Geddy wants to do it, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
If we're lucky, this could happen quite sooner than we expect, since KC and Yes remix projects have come to an end (as of now).

I don't know the state of Rush's archives, but maybe there are no alternate takes or demos that survive for this album.

The track listing does look strange. The target audience of a box set/anniversary release of this size should be the die-hard fans, not me.
I'm a big Steven Wilson follower, and love Rush (but not a huge fan), so I'll gladly throw in $30 for the 2CD/DVD set, but I totally understand why the die-hards would call this BS.

Very interesting for the most part, but I'm not jazzed about the cover versions. I could not care less. If they released a CD of those covers on its own, it would sell 100 copies and be selling for a penny within a year. And the new cover? Bleah. Let the old cover be the tacky 70's masterpiece that it is!

I'm surprised that they don't have the previous 5.1 mix as part of this set, if they couldn't manage to get Steve Wilson to one in time. Or at least have a DVD-A with high res stereo.

All in all it looks to me somewhat like the coming-soon Black Sabbath Paranoid super deluxe. Some good stuff but could be obviously better, and likely to be superseded by a later release.

I agree...It surprises me they are sinking this low, just reissueing reissueing and reboxing the same stuff over and over

Huh? The extras are crap. I don't want to hear Dave Grohl or anyone else do Rush.

They just did a ****ing remaster of the catalog like 5 years ago.

Old bands can't win with you. If they release new stuff you'll say it's crap and they should call it quits, if they re-release their classic albums with (presumably) superior mastering and a few extras you are surprised they are "sinking this low". Do you EVER enjoy new releases?

Anybody who loves Rush and doesn't do Vinyl or Hi-Rez downloads should be happy about this release and any further release of the latest remasters.
