    He looks like the Captain of the high school football or hockey team, which is the image I've always had of him. :laugh:

    It is beyond my compression, for example The Rolling Stones. Some of those old videos and clips from when they were just beginning. The excessive live style they lived. No one to tell them no. Imagine being Mick Jagger at age 21. Or George Harrison, how old was he?

    Like I said, I cannot imagine what that was like.

    Sammy’s kept himself in great shape and I would think hadn’t indulged to the extent of a lot of musicians. He looks nowhere near 70.

    I remember reading an interview with him in 1984 and he made a big point of saying that when he's off the road, he's at home taking care of his kids and working in his studio, and in his words, "I do not party. I do not go out." Now, a lotta stuff happened to him after 1984, but I suspect that on the party angle, he's been a lot more restrained that many of his peers, even if he does own a tequila factory.

    Robert’s also younger than Debbie Harry, who despite being a figure of the punk/new wave era was actually as old as the classic rockers ... she was born only a few weeks after Pete Townshend.

    I get that, I really do, but couldn’t there be a little more to go on like “Robert Plant is younger than Sammy Hagar!” or “Rock Stars who are younger (or older) than you thought!” (which is kind of what this thread has evolved into).

    It’s not “polarizing”. You just need to have your title be a tad more specific. It helps potentially interested members know what the thread is about. The forum mods have asked that thread titles try and be clear concerning the topic.

    It’s no big deal; you’ll get the hang of it. :}

    Plant was 19 when he joined Led Zeppelin. Here's what Sammy Hagar was up to when he was 19:

    Success came quickly to Led Zep and a young Plant. The band was formed in the Summer of 68 when Plant was only 19 or just coming up 20. They did their first tour in Sept 68 and recorded Led Zep I in about 9 days the same month. By November they had a contract with Atlantic and the album was released in January 69. Led Zep II was released the same year. By 1971 they had already made Led Zep III and IV, shifted millions of albums, done a number of tours of the US, and were arguably already the biggest band in the world, when Plant would have been only 22 or 23. With such early success, his career with other bands even before Zep, and his continuing solo career - a new double album only a couple of months ago, Plant has been in the business 50 years (or a bit more). so maybe it's not surprising some people think he must be older, or older than some "contemporaries". Stones: formed around 1962, still going strong, Keef 74 today. similar longevity, 5 years or so apart.

    "Little White Lies" burns Eddie harsher than a whole Taylor Swift album.

    He reminds me there of actor Jason Hervey. Or vice-versa I guess (see: Back To School, etc) (I confess, I had to look up the actor's name) (some kid in Back To School I'd swear was him too)

    True; I thought it was a "Vs." thread.
    They've both sang the song Rock and Roll. That's about it.

    They actually looked pretty similar in 1973 (Hagar on the right in the Montrose picture)

    And Plant in the same year

    Yep, she was a late bloomer, 31 years old when Blondie released their first album.

    Nothing wrong with being a 31 year old female of course, but getting a break in the music business at that age - especially for women - is not very common.
