If this should go in a different folder, please, move it.

I picked one of these up today at Best Buy on sale. I wanted to check out the 720p and 1080i outputs on my 61 inch, HDTV, widescreen.
As Samsung states, "the ability to upconvert a standard DVD signal to HD-compatible 720p or 1080i, and a DVI output (until now only found on some HDTV tuners). If you already own an HDTV-ready TV with a compatible DVI input ? especially a "fixed-pixel" TV such as a flat-panel plasma or LCD, or an LCD or DLP projection model ? you can enjoy DVD picture quality that's even superior to progressive-scan DVD (480p).

I'm quite pleased. I'm not impressed beyond belief but it does give a nice picture. It played DVD-R discs better than I thought it would and plays many other formats. I haven't tried a SVCD yet. It's capable of playing DVD-Video, DVD-R & DVD-RW, DVD+R & DVD+RW
    CD, CD-R & CD-RW, and MP3 CD-R & CD-RW,plays digital picture CDs (JPEG)
It can also be set to double sample the audio.

Ofcourse you must have component or DVI inputs on your set or reciever.

I'll give it a thumbs up review.

btw....Samsung is about to release their newest version the DVD-HD941.

It will be a Universal Player with SACD/DVDA capability. Plus HDMI/DVI. Will retail at about $299.

Should be the talk of the AVS Forum for a few months.
