I wonder if she was also on their version of "Louie, Louie", one of my favorite versions of that song.

All Music Guide lists a Pamela Ramcier as singing on some of their A&M recordings, but the way it's worded, it's as though she sang with them after "Guantanamera" became a hit.

Carl Magnus Palm's Sandpipers discography doesn't list a vocalist either.

 "The Sandpipers were an American male vocal trio, consisting of Jim Brady, Mike Piano and Richard Shoff. The group recorded for A&M between 1966 and 1972. The Sandpipers' most famous hit was their breakthrough single, 'Guantanamera', which was a US Top 10 hit in 1966."

Female vocalist, as mentioned in the original post in this thread. I have more than enough Sandpipers albums here...one A&M act I never really cared for outside a dozen or so songs from their various albums.

I've seen a photo of the band on the back cover of probably their first LP, which had two men and two women.

Thanks for your replies lads. That name Pamela Ramcier is strangely familiar. Tommy LiPuma (?) was the producer I think I remember? (I borrowed a Sandpipers album about 15 years ago) Was he an A&M in-house producer at that time? He did go on to produce Everything But The Girl's amazing 'Language Of Life' album in 1989 which had Stan Getz's last recording I think. Isn't it lovely how everything interlocks, or am I dreaming.

(Rudy, that CMP - Mr ABBA biographer! - discog mentions a single from 1971, 'Chotto Matte Kudasai; A&M 1280' which may be interesting in a King Crimson 'anorak' sort of way!)

From an obituary posted on the A&M Corner:

So "Robie Lester" is the correct answer, according to this.

That song appeared on their FOURSIDER compilation album, as well as on their Japanese CD release called DIGITALLY REMASTERED BEST.
