Season 37 of SNL starts on September 24, 2011. NBC has announced the host and musical guest for the first two episodes:

Sept 24 - Alec Baldwin and Radiohead

Oct 1 - Melissa McCarthy and Lady Antebellum

Baldwin's appearance will be his 16th as host, a new record for most SNL shows hosted (and passing Steve Martin's 15 shows as host). There's been no announcement of any changes to the cast from last season.

I worry that Wiig and Sedakis' recent Hollywood successes will mean their departure from the show in the not-too-distant future. I can't see either of them sticking around for more than one more season.

    IMDB is a useful site.

She's recently known as a scene stealer in Bridesmaids and star of the sitcom Mike & Molly. She was also Sookie St. James on the series Gilmore Girls.

She was a highlight of "Gilmore Girls" and is totally wasted on that turkey of a show "Mike & Molly". I do hope her success with "Bridesmaids" gives her more opportunties.

I've never watched Mike & Molly, but it didn't look to be any different than the standard couple sitcom. Save for the size of the couple. But that didn't interest me. She was great on Gilmore Girls, though. Hope she does a nice job on SNL.

  10. SNL Creator Lorne Michaels announced last week that all cast members from the 2010-11 season were returning for this year...no turnover unlike last year.

Wow. I wonder if that is a first (other than season 2 thru 4).

It happened as recently as four years ago, when the entire 2006-2007 cast returned.

The 1986-1987 cast returned for the 1987-1988 season... and again for the 1988-1989 season.

The 1998-1999 cast returned in 1999-2000 as well.

Scary how close they're getting in their prediction to Stipe's appearance!

First song didn't impress me. Maybe they will on the second.

  21. Yeah. She kinda makes me think of what Marisa Tomei's slightly geeky younger sister might look like, if she had one. Bayer made a very fine Susan Lucci too, better than the real thing!

Oh, and I dug Radiohead's set. Very analog. Baldwin isn't as good as he can be (EDIT: his Tony Bennett ain't bad at all, though!) but it's an OK ep so far.

I was thinking the same exact thing on both accounts when I was watching that.
