I enjoyed pretty much the whole thing with the 'Complicit' ad and the Olive Garden sketch, plus Lorde's first performance being the highlights. I really enjoy this cast when the material is there.

I thought it was an enjoyable show this week. The Cherry Lane skit was hilarious.

Which was amazing. I didn't really like her earlier albums but that was a standout performance that night.

The Olive Garden bit was pretty entertaining. The Animal Photographer was tiresome and predictable to me. Audio missing at the start really messed that up for me: I hope they can get Keenan to overdub it for any later showings.

I liked the whole thing although I did fast forward through Lorde's second song. She is ok but only in small doses. I will probably watch her second performance in a few days. Compared to last week, this episode was great.

They've announced the hosts (but not most of the musical guests) for the rest of the season:

    4/8: Louis C.K. / The Chainsmokers
    4/15: Jimmy Fallon

    5/6: Chris Pine
    5/13: Melissa McCarthy
    5/20: Dwayne Johnson

They're also bringing back the Weekend Update primetime Thursday shows for four weeks starting August 10.

But for me the most exciting news is that they're finally going to air the show live in the mountain and pacific time zones! (I've only watched the show live one time! It's always been on a three-hour delay in Los Angeles.)

Ah, gotta get Fallon's ratings back up by putting him on SNL. :hurl:

Hmm... I think I know what songs The Chainsmokers are going to perform.

Why though? Jimmy Fallon is so funny!

Funny how? I mean like is he a clown?

  12. Looks like a pretty good run - and presumably Chris Pine will make for a decent enough host, as he seems to have the right attitude. But will the writers deliver? We shall see...

I'm in Vancouver and can watch all the late night shows at 8:30pm west coast time. Buried in the HD channels.

The '90s episode with Seinfeld is on right now. I believe that's the only time he hosted.

EDIT: Nope, he hosted again in 1999. This one's '92.

Why so few new SNL shows lately, just when we need them most! Seems like its been at least a month of repeats.

I haven't seen the bradley cooper rerun since it aired I guess.

No idea why Drew Barrymore was with the rest of the cast saying goodbyes.

It has been less than a month. As stated upthread, SNL takes off when the NCAA Tournament can take away viewers by running into their timeslot.

Don't most people have time recording capabilities these days? For me, I never watch SNL when it's on. It comes on here at 8:30 PM so I watch later in the evening and skip through all the commercials and 99% of the musical acts. Is it realistically then either SNL or NCAA when you can have both? In these politically charged days, for my own sanity, I need to see some biting humour from Melissa McCarthy, and the others.

That wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't live.

Keeping a cast ready, not mention an audience through what might be a long delay makes an untenable wait.

I'm amazed that people here continue to fail to realize how hard it is to make the show and think they should just do one a week every week no matter what.

They do 21 shows over 35 weeks, there's not going to be a new one every Saturday.

Gonna be hard for Louis C.K. to top his last monologue, but I can't wait to hear him try.
