Al Pacino will be in a Broadway revival of Glengarry Glen Ross.

Pacino played Ricky Roma in the movie version, but he will play Shelly Levene in the revival. (Jack Lemmon played Shelly Levene in the movie version.)

I just flipped past it on AMC. The heart attack scene is just so hammy and over the top. UGH

Brilliant comedic chops as Alphonse "Big Boy" Caprice in the often overlooked "Dick Tracy".

Wow - that'd be interesting to see. I have a really, really hard time imaging Pacino in that role...

michael corleone is his peak, just amazing

"heat" is my second favorite, his coffee shop scene with deniro is classic.

the OP asked for bad, why in the world did he ever accept a role in "jack and jill"?

He was perfect for The Godfather movies (The original and II- I don't care much for III but that's not his fault..).

I just watched Scarface on BluRay last week. I know some critics don't feel he was believable for the role, but I thought he aced it. Was really drawn into the film, it looks and sounds great in high def..

I thought he was fantastic in Carlito's Way. But I love just about everything about that film...

He was funny as hell. So was Dustin Hoffman as Mumbles.

I like him in Godfather I & II best. I still have no forgiveness in my heart for Godfather III.

I'd have to go for Dog Day Afternoon & Glengarry Glen Ross as favourite Pacino roles.

I was about to say the same. He truly invested that tragic character with an inner conscious sense, that he is being drawn down into an inescapeable downward spiral, no matter what he does.

His turn as the Devil in The Devil's Advocate was also an assured class act..

He'll be doing Glengarry on Broadway this fall. This time playing Shelly Levene. I bought tickets this week.

Edit - I see this was already mentioned.

I put a fair amount of the blame for "GF III" in Pacino, actually. He played the role like Michael was an entirely different character. The subtle, understated Pacino of the early-mid-70s was gone, replaced by "hoo-ah Al", and that was a major reason why "GF III" didn't work...

C'mon guys! Even Orson Welles did stuff like Transformers: The Movie, where he was Unicorn, the planet eating robot.

I wasn't criticizing Pacino for "Jack and Jill" - just explaining why I think he did it...

    Right on.

When did Pacino's voice turn all craggy?
