    Overkill-Ironbound
    Big Boi-Sir Luscious Left Foot
    Robyn-Body Talk
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross-The Social Network OST

John Zorn's "The Dreamers: The Gentle Side" vinyl LP on Tzadik; mastered by Scott Hull.

Great, subtle Zorn compositions and amazing-sounding!

My favorites of 2010 (mostly guitar rock/hard rock/metal which is where my musical heart lies):

#1 by a very big margin:

    1. Dizzy Mizz Lizzy - Live in Concert 2010 (CD/DVD)

[I'm totally nuts about this relatively obscure band (except for in Denmark and Japan where they are pretty well known). That they got back together after 15 years away is a long answered prayer, even if it was just a temporary reunion.]

    (rest not in particular order)

    2. Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
    3. Black Country Communion
    4. Joe Satriani - Black Swans & Wormhole Wizards
    5. Horslips - Live at the O2 (CD/DVD)
    6. Eric Johnson - Up Close
    7. Heaven & Hell - Neon Nights Live (CD/DVD)
    8. Mr. Big - What If...
    9. King's X - Live Love In London (CD/DVD)
    10. John Norum - Play Yard Blues

    Honorable mentions & reissues:
    - Black Crowes - Croweology
    - Renegade Creation
    - Robin Trower - Playful Heart
    - Dio - At Donington UK: Live 1983 & 1987
    - Paul Gilbert - Fuzz Universe
    - MSG - 30th Anniversary Concert Live In Japan (CD/DVD)
    - Eric Johnson - Austin City Limits (1984 session CD/DVD)
    - The Who - Live at Leeds Super Deluxe Edition (*for the HULL discs*)
    - Jimi Hendrix - Valleys of Neptune
    - Jimi Hendrix - West Coast Seattle Boy (boxset)
    - Deep Purple - Come Taste the Band - 35th anniversary edition
    - Dizzy Mizz Lizzy - Dizzcography

My Biggest Disappointment of the year:
    - Peter Frampton - Thank You Mr. Churchill

Sun City Girls - Funeral Mariachi
    Caribou - Swim

    Locrian - Territories
    Deathspell Omega - Paracletus
Four Tet - There Is Love in You
Moritz von Oswald Trio - Live in New York
    Beach House - Teen Dream
    Actress - Splazsh
    Ga-In - Step 2/4
    T-ara - Breaking Heart
Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit
    The National - High Violet
    Dødsengel - Mirium Occultum

  9. 133 posts give about 1400 albums in total ie everything what was released this year is considered by somebody as Best album.
can somebody narrow this list to 20 most mentioned and start a poll which shows what SH Forumites really think?

    Here's 10 of the best.

    1. Tom Jones / Praise & Blame
    2. Marty Stuart / Ghost Train: The Studio B Sessions
    3. Justin Townes Earle / Harlem River Blues
    4. The Secret Sisters / The Secret Sisters
    5. Hank III / The Rebel Within
    6. Preservation Hall Jazz Band / Preservation: An Album To Benefit Preservation Hall & The Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program
    7. John Mellencamp / No Better Than This
    8. Elvis Costello / National Ransom
    9. Carolina Chocolate Drops / Genuine Negro Jig
    10. Neil Young / Le Noise

    A couple of observations

    * If sound tracks were eligible I would probably have included both Treme and Crazy Heart

    * I notice in my list there are no fewer than 3 albums produced by the great T-Bone Burnett, along with another, the Jakob Dylan album, that I really wanted to fit in but couldn't. So in terms of my tastes I'll have to declare this the year of T-Bone Burnett!!

I love the Justin Townes Earle and Mellencamp. I grew tired and disappointed in the Neil Young. I have meant to pick up the Costello and I have been curious about the Tom Jones.

The two albums I keep constantly turning to this year have been the Gorillaz - Plastic Beach and Josh Ritter - So Runs the World Away. I'll also throw in Neulore - Apples and Eve, it's a gorgeous album.

    Broken Bells - s/t
Mavis Staples - You Are Not Alone
    Liz Phair - Funstyle

    Honorable Mention to:
    Court Yard Hounds - s/t
Dum Dum Girls - I Will Be
John Legend & The Roots - Wake Up!
Southern Culture on the Skids - Kudzu Ranch

I like songs, but not full albums of the rest I've heard (Elvis Costello, Shelby Lynne, Jakob Dylan, Sheryl Crowe, Tom Petty, Band of Horses, Delta Spirit and others)

I'm adding Fran Healy and Josh Ritter's albums to the list.

Death of a Popstar by David Banner & 9th Wonder was pretty good too.

Album of year for me: Mark Ronson and the Business International - 'Record Collection'.

These are the ones that keep finding their way back in to the CD or MP3 player...

Dave Holland & Pepe Habichuela - Hands
Ralph Towner and Paolo Fresu - Chiaroscuro
Scanner with the Post Modern Jazz Quartet - Blink of an Eye
    Tomasz Stanko - Dark Eyes
    Broken Bells - s/t
    Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
    Crowded House - Intriguer

Surprisingly I didn't buy mouch more than that this year. Most of the year was focused on the Blue Note, Impulse Jazz SACDs and completing my Miles Davis Metal Spine boxset collection. :)
