I'm sitting here listening to a live Crowded House cd, and Paul (I think) ad-libbed during "Hole In The River" the phrase "shock and awe" repeatedly. I was stunned... I mean, I've never heard the phrase before last week's constant use on TV coverage of the war. Now, mind you I'm listening on the itty bitty speakers built into my laptop, so I grabbed my headphones and listened again, and what he's really singing is... "Chaka Kahn" shock and awe.... chaka kahn.... sigh... I must be tired. HZ
I just can't believe that our idea of over-running our enemy is Chaka Kahn. Of course, this could lead to some sort of funky confusion...
I would be interested in hearing Tom Brokow say "Chaka Kahn" three times fast. He always sounds like his teeth are missing or something! Of course, this would be a fairer test that asking him to spell Chaka Kahn!
Considering the heavy tone of "Hole In The River" it's pretty funny that "Chaka Kahn" would come up at all. BTW, where does one get that CD? Dan C
Not to be pedantic but her name is misspelled as well .... it's Chaka KHan (not KaHn) . There is the actress, Madelline Kahn. The name Khan is Muslim, while the name Kahn is Jewish. Cliff
You NEED to hear Opie and Anthony (former WNEW-FM, New York) DJ's spoof on Tom Brokaw. You will absolutely fall on the floor in laughter. http://www.opacktool.com/~fedexed/brokaw-jfk-crash.mp3
In my opinion we're so stressed over this war (I know our family is!) it wouldn't surprise me that you heard those words! Which I feel are not fitting at all...
Which disc in particular? Wouldn't surprise me if Hester was riffing off the toast in "I Feel For You"...
