You did well...mine is 268. I have another copy enroute. Allegedly the lower the number the purer the sound directly from the master...or something like that. But if only 1,000 copies are pressed (which I don't believe for a second) there shouldn't be much difference in sound. Plus the recording is 70 years old!
I would guess that there is not necessarily a correlation between the number on the jacket and the sequence of the pressing of the vinyl within. The people in the packing plant likely grab one record from one pile and a jacket from another pile. It seems just as likely that a higher number has an earlier pressing. Many limited editions have considerable over runs in production
This is the 3rd copy I will have owned. I sold 90% of my 10' incher's a few years ago. Over the years, I would say at one time I had in my collection every Columbia 10' inch that had a Sinatra track. The hardest to find: the one that had the Sinatra-Jane Russell track " Kisses And Tears " I think the title was "Boy's And Girls Together " or something like that. Back in the 80's it was very hard to find.
I knew Bob F. was going to post a picture of it. I just knew it. I know where you can buy one for $3.99 near mint.
Yes in that case, hard to find did not mean valuable. I found a few in dollar bins. I also enjoy the import 10 inch LPs. I would say the hardest thing to find is any one of the 10 inch LPs in pristine condition, both cover and record. Also hard to find, a run of the 7 inch 33RPMs in very good shape (playback, I mean)
Ordered from Vinyl Me on 13th Aug delivered yesterday 22nd Aug to the UK which is impressive. Excellent cover, booklet and vinyl, let down slightly by plain paper inner with a few bits of paper dust. I will have to rectify the inner sleeve problem. Gave it one listen last night and considering the caveats mentioned by VM they have done an outstanding job - to my ears anyway. Great to have this in my Sinatra collection and thanks to the original poster who highlighted this VM exclusive. (Number 00478 for anybody interested)
Might be worth contacting them as I had tracking from the day after placing the order when it was "EN ROUTE TO DHL ECOMMERCE DISTRIBUTION CENTER US" 3 days later it was manifested for transport from the US.
Off topic: They are showing the Sinatra short movie "The house I live in" at the cinema here in Berlin!!! Can't believe it!!! Wow!!!
Nice. Mine won’t be arriving until September. I contacted Vinyl Me Please, and they said it won’t be shipping until early next month. Order placed August 16. Very odd.
I read someplace that they only ship certain weeks of the month. You must have just missed the August cutoff.
The liner notes and pics are all 1st rate! It is SOOOOOO nice to read and view them on something larger than a CD booklet!!!!!! It is indeed a 1st rate production all around. Kudos to our pal Charles Granata!!!!
Got mine today. No. 483. Nice and so very important re-release. Although I'll have to admit that I like my original pressing better, which has a warmer and richer sound to it, this is a first rate release. Beautiful for everybody who doesn't own the original record. And of sooooo important history matter!!!
Today in a store I found the "Frankie" CL606 album! Both versions!!!!! The 6eye label showing the "hat" cover and the "Debbie Reynolds" cover with the maroon label!!! To find them both at once is unbelievable! Both in great condition. And I needn't say that both are among his most beautiful cover artworks ever! Bought them for 8euros each. I feel blessed!!!!!
