Maybe stating the obvious, but if this is released by Warner and on the becausesoundmatters website, is this another lovely Steve mastered vinyl project. If so, this might be another one to add to my want list.

I hope so too, although I imagine Steve would have said something if he had. I'm really enjoy some of the new songs that they've played live.

I just hope that it is properly mastered regardless of who does it. As long as it's not compressed like the CD will surely be I'll be happy. Of course I was also hoping that the Zwan 'Mary Star of the Sea' LP would be better sounding than the CD. Unfortunately it wasn't. Had the same compression and everything. I will continue to hope it won't be the case with this one :)

Yes that's because Corgan deliberately clipped the album (digitally) because he didnt realise that there are differences between analogue and digital clipping. The guy needs to listen to the experts a bit more often imo. Apparently some of the sound guys helping with the production of the new album ended up pissed off with him because he kept ignoring them on certain issues.

My gut is telling me that Zeitgeist is most likely going to be quite digitally recorded. If that's the case, I'm sure Stan Ricker will do an excellent job, provided the master disc doesn't sound like garbage to begin with. It would be rad if Steve and Kevin rocked this one, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I think we would've heard about it by now if they were doing it, as ivor mentioned. I'll admit, although something tells me I'll be dissapointed in the end, I'm very excited about this album.

I remember the discussion on Netphoria. My first exposure to the "loudness war". I think Billy's response was that he wanted it to be "loud at any volume". Well, he got what he wanted. Though to me it was more like crap at any volume. Unfortunate really, since there are a few Zwan tracks that I really liked and would have been worth hearing better mastered. The unofficial 'pre masters' sound great! ;)

Or you could buy the normal version, say "away to hell WB!" and download the extra tracks. If you were a naughty person.

honestly, i don't think they have made any good music in the last ten years, so i'll be taking a pass. i'm sure it's going to be emo-music to the nines.
