Not the whole song, but there's a great line in Merle Travis's "So Round, So Firm, So Fully Packed," his song derived from advertising slogans of the day, that goes: Toasted by the sun, and I'm a son of a gun If she don't make my five o'clock shadow come around at one
There was an Aussie comedy group The Beards that exclusively did songs about beards. As the wearer of a longer beard I approve of their message.
That song was about playing at Woodstock. I think The Who had a few problems getting paid, and the promoters may have shorted them a few quid. Amazing where the inspiration of some great songs originate.
Mr. Spaceman - The Byrds "Woke up this morning, I was feeling quite weird Had flies in my beard, my toothpaste was smeared"
"The air escaping from your mouth The hair escaping from your nose" "The Air" ~ The Mothers of Invention
Bob Dylan Must Be Santa "Who's got a beard that's long and white? Santa's got a beard that's long and white."
It's sweeter than I drink easily I don't even like the taste of my bourbon beard But I'd rather feel sleazy than desperate and crazed My bourbon beard Holds my head up for a while Helps me feel like I'm not shot They say that we're just a couple of drunks whose pants are way too tight My bourbon beard It's hard to admit the truth So I creep into the night My bourbon beard I've got a reason to smile Stay with me for a little while Nothing but money in my jeans I'm still sorta young and I'm free and white My bourbon beard The kids, well, I'm still one of them It's working out all right My bourbon beard Don't count it against me At least I made it this far I came in through the front door I'm open to you now I'm willing to advance Oh I think they're coming to get me Yeah I think I'm going insane Isn't everybody strange?
