Sorry if english is your native tongue. At least you can listen to our recommendations.

I'm from Sweden. Here are some songs in swedish:

Cornelis Vreeswijk - Får jag presentera Fiffiga Nanette

This song is about a prostitute, Nanette, and her pimp, Ivar von Sprätt. Very humorous lyrics!

Hoola Bandoola Band - Keops pyramid

This song is about the construction of Cheops pyramid (the Great Pyramid of Giza) and how the slaves are suffering. The lyrics are touching.

Carl Michael Bellman - Fredmans Epistel #82: Vila vid denna källa (interpreted by Fred Åkerström)

Bellman (1740-1795) is one of Swedens so called "nationalskalder" (national poets). Very beautiful lyrics and melody.

A song about the frustrations of growing up in a doomed society. Argentine rock at its beginnings.

Very abstract lyrics, deep poetical images, but very hard to explain. The music is simply fantastic, as everything recorded by Invisible. From their first album, released in 1974.

That's a good song from a good album. Not my favorite swedish act, but they're pretty great.

This isn't English, it's Scottish, with a Dundee accent and a bit of a French song thrown in too...

    Thanks! :)

Yes, it's the same band. The song I posted is from a few years later. The "name change" I think was meant as a stab at the bland and lighthearted swedish "dansband" scene, where it's a tradition among the dance bands to use the letter z in their names (don't ask why), like for example Lasse Stefanz. Crap music. That's why it's so funny with Zamla as their music is anything but bland. With the z's in their name they also got darker and even more experimental, which attracted interest from Henry Cow. Check out the RIO movement if you want to know more. If you're a Zappa fan (which your avatar indicates (great album btw)), then most of Samlas output should be of interest for you.

The album you got, Måltid, is their best though. In the 80's they made another name change, this time to Von Zamla.
