I am looking in the $150-$250 price range. I did a search and read opinions so far but am looking for any others. I am more concerned with the AtoD section sense I am going to be doing needle drops, analog tape etc. So fire away and thanks..

Do you know how the E-MU 1212m compares to M-Audio's Audiophile 192 card?

E-MU owns Creative Labs, the chips on any Creative labs cards is made by E-MU, has been for many years.

M-Audio is superior, in my opinion.

Respectfully disagree. The 1212m and the 1820m are getting high marks. Creative may own E-MU, but the E-MU and Creative products are WAY different in this case. E-MU set out to make a musician pro/semi-pro card and succeeded, not a prosumer middle of the road for most PCs.

Do not count past performance on current products.

Just check out the June issue of Sound on Sound. The 1212m and 1820m have the same converters that Pro Tools has to boot.
