With the English Beat opening - well, at least in Baltimore. I'd guess it's the same elsewhere, but don't blame me if you buy tickets and the Beat doesn't show up! :D

    Hi, Gentle Giant

Three members from the old days:
    Glenn Tilbrook: guitar
    Chris Difford: guitar
John Bentley: bass (1979-1985 and 2007-present)

Two new guys, filling Jools Holland and Gilson Lavis' roles (if that is even possible):
    Stephen Large: keyboards (2007-present)
    Simon Hanson: drums (2007-present)
Both guys are members of Glenn Tilbrook's touring band, The Fluffers

I will be at Roseland; my first time ever to see them! Anyone else?

So they've had the same lineup for three US tours now...Quite impressive for Squeeze!

There are twelve songs they always play, but the last tour had quite a few deep cuts in the setlist, great ones too (Third Rail, Its So Dirty, When the Hangover STrikes and more). Very refreshing for us old fans.

I saw them in `83 or so In Boston w/Jules, very professional. Seeing them in Enlgand this August as part of the Cropredy Fest., it will be interesting to see how they are (nearly) 30 years later !

I really hope they add some more dates. There's a lot of places that aren't lucky enough to be on one of the coasts. :\

I wouldn't call this a tour, rather a sprinkling of live performances on the coasts. Looks like I'll never be seeing them.

  10. I'd love to see them. I'm thinking the Napa show only because it's a bit closer to home. Now that Chris is back in the fold and that they have some of the Tempted era players (alhtough I wish that Paul Carrack was with them).

I saw them once, at Smith College on the Sweets From a Stranger tour. Flock of Seagulls opened for them. Great show.

Squeeze are a great live band and the current line-up is very good.

Isn't there supposed to be a new album this year as well?

    The current lineup is fantastic!
I hope they come to Toronto again!

  14. Saw the original Squeeze on the Argybargy tour in the summer of 1980, on a Saturday night.

They played in Winnipeg at the St. Vital Hotel (seated about 200). Was sold out. Great, great show. The band even performed "Mess Around" which Jools Holland had recorded solo.

A friend of mine had a house party after the show. The band came along for a few beers. They were very nice. We partied into the wee hours of Sunday morning.

They have a new live album, Squeeze Live at the Fillmore, on iTunes or on double white vinyl direct from the band's website. Mixed by Bob Clearmountain. Sounds fantastic.

The constant reuniting of this Squeeze band is really interfering with Glenn Tilbrook's recording career. This has really gotta stop!

I saw the Napa show this week, would have also gone to The Fillmore if it didn't clash with Madness at The Warfield (ending a Pulp-Squeeze-Madness trio of shows this week). The show was good, but it's a seated venue best suited to shows where you sit the entire time. The ushers were making everyone sit down until at least half way into the show, which didn't help the atmosphere. I preferred The Fillmore show from 2 years ago, that has just been released, largely for that reason.

This is the setlist from Napa:

    Squeeze - Uptown, Napa - April 18, 2012

    1. Take Me I'm Yours - (Squeeze)
    2. If I Didn't Love You - (Argybargy)
    3. In Quintessence - (East Side Story)
    4. Tough Love - (Babylon And On)
    5. Revue - (Cool For Cats)
    6. Model - (Squeeze)
    7. The Knack - (Cool For Cats)
    8. Who's That? - (single B-side/Frank bonus)
    9. Is That Love? - (East Side Story)
    10. Points Of View - (Sweets From A Stranger)
    11. Melody Motel - (Frank)
    12. Heaven - (East Side Story)
    13. Bang Bang - (Squeeze)
    14. Cool For Cats - (Cool For Cats)
    15. Up The Junction - (Cool For Cats)
    16. Annie Get Your Gun - (single)
    17. Hourglass - (Babylon And On)
    18. Goodbye Girl - (Cool For Cats)
    19. Another Nail In My Heart - (Argybargy)
    20. Pulling Mussels (From A Shell) - (Argybargy)

    Encores:

    21. Slap And Tickle - (Cool For Cats)
    22. Tempted - (East Side Story)
    23. Black Coffee In Bed - (Sweets From A Stranger)

Anyone here planning on going to Baltimore on Friday? I'd like to go, but I'm not wild about schlepping that moderate distance on a Friday night.

Would prefer to go to the summer Wolf Trap show, but it looks like they're opening for B-52s there. Not a fan of the latter, not paying $45 for an opening set, not going!

I'm totally shocked at the setlist. Half is the 12 songs you know they're gonna play, the rest is really great deep cuts. Points of View, The Knack, Heaven, Whos That? Wow-- Those haven't been played in a very long time, if at all. Of course, the downside is that they're 5 years into the reunion and no new material yet.

Cool! I'm actually surprised to see it's sold out - didn't expect that.

I'm sure tickets will pop up between now and Friday, but I'm still surprised it sold out in the first place - didn't think the show would be much of a draw...
