That's not what the Disney accountants projecting their fourth quarter financials said.

I think huge flicks do better in December and print more money. Look at the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit flicks. They crush during the holiday week but more importantly get long legs by playing against mostly trash in January, February and even March. Star Wars, (if released in time) will play well all the way through May...
    Too much competition in summer.
Disney can't be happy if Mr. Ford's hiatus is as long as rumoured.

Christmas 2015 not 2016 i think?, although now after the broken leg the new date could be May 2016 definitely.

My bad -- 12/2015 it is. That's an almost impossible date to hit. The original Star Wars took more than 2 years from production to release.

Here's poor Harrison Ford in a wheelchair from one of the tabloids:

I think Harrison Ford's injury will have no impact on the release date of the film.

He looks in pretty good shape for a 70 year old.

I thought Ford looked pretty good in Crystal Skull, but the picture is pretty sad. Sadly, time and gravity catch up with all of us.

Cruise could easily don his Magnolia persona and be one bad dark Jedi master...

I think they are probably misinterpreting a social occasion, or a meeting about another project.

Likely true. Or they're just casting Cruise in a cameo as R2-D2s long lost little brother. I'd be fine with that.

Tom Cruise is short enough to fit into R2D2 so maybe he is taking over for Kenny Baker.
