Does anybody remember an announcement in Ice or Goldmine a few years back about a live Steely Dan show from '74 scheduled for release in Rykodisc? Also, I recall seeing a ROIO called 'The Katy Lied sessions and more' awhile back. Any Dan experts know what this consists of? Thanks, Chris
I've had a boot called "Bent Over Backward" since about 1979 or so. Nice quality but kinda hissy. All outtakes from "Katy Lied" except live versions of "Do It Again" and "Reeling In The Years". Side A Daddy Don't Live In That NYC No More Chain Lightnin' Black Friday Rose Darling Throw Back The Little Ones Side B Doctor Wu Your Gold Teeth II Do It Again Reeling In The Years There is also a really nice ROIO called "This All Too Mobile Home"- but I have seen it called by other titles as well- that is Steely Dan live at the Record Plant, March 20, 1974. Tracks: Bodhisattva The Boston Rag Do It Again Any Major Dude King Of The World Rikki Don't Lose That Number Pretzel Logic Instrumental Reeling In The Years This All Too Mobile Home Great playing!!!!
I saw the '74 Dan tour in Water(not Dan)bury Ct. with my college buddies, one one of whose brothers, Drew Zingg, became the guitar player in the band years later. My memory of the show is they didn't stretch out much, sounded pretty much like the recorded versions of the songs. A great show, anyway, and certainly a rock and roll rarity.
