Just got the post from Steve himself on his Facebook page...he's doing this at Stephen Marsh's studio!!! :goodie:

Also received an e-mail from AF confirming THIS and Al Kooper's "Super Session" as their first two multi-channel hybrid SACD releases..

.Steve is remastering the stereo layer for "Breezin'" from the original 30 inches per second two track stereo mixes by Al Schmitt for both the DSD and CD sections..

So? Thats a general 'AF is now issuing 5.1 SACDs' thread....better to have dedicated threads for announced titles.

Not in my opinion at this stage of the game, but to each his own.

I think the dvd-audio sounds quite good in multichannel, but I like this album enough that I'll probably buy the SACD as well. (I don't even have a strong memory of what this dvd-audio title sounds like in stereo.)

This is good. I can't do SACD surround, only DTS or Dolby, but I can enjoy the stereo! I am thinking about getting a processor for SACD surround and probably an Oppo. However, this comes after some repairs/upgrades and mods to the main system.

Steve is not involved in the multichannel part of these SACDs, only 2.0 mastering.

Just picked up an original vinyl pressing of this in prestine shape. Great sounding album.

If you feel all these releases are half assed, steer clear.... I'm sure losing one sale to Tullman isn't going to make or break any of these releases.

No, when I think AF and Steve Hoffman, I want everything mastered by Steve Hoffman. I have nothing against other mastering engineers.

Really? I should skip the Steve Hoffman SACD mastering because you say so? The Steve Hoffman 2.1 master is the half of the ass that is done right.

Do you always get everything you want. If these discs didn't have 5.1, they would be everything every other AF disc is and was. So those AF discs mastered by Kevin Gray, what do you think of those.

No, I certainly don't get everything I want. I just think it should be done right. If not, I reserve the right to complain. Nothing against you.

That ship sailed many years ago, at this point, when Kevin Gray started mastering some Audio Fidelity titles.

No, but your strong and sour attitude is somewhat incomprehensible. Buy the discs, listen to them and then decide if they aren't worthy instead of indicating they are wrong for not letting Steve master the 5.1 mix. It is OBVIOUS that the 5.1 mixes are most likely already completed masters, or require something additional to master that Steve might not have easy access to?
