Steve Perry on the American Idol finale last night

I would love to just see him sing again.

 

Did you see his live cameos with The Eels a few years ago? Those were great.

It was great to see Steve Perry make an appearance.

If Simon Cowell was there, he would have said to Gabby, "Sorry - NOT good enough and I think you are in trouble." Even Steve Perry's cameo couldn't save that crash/burn or the fact that Gabby flat out BLEW IT that entire night. And this is coming from someone who wanted her to win.

Not getting the hate, she acquits herself fine, needs more control and nuance on vibrato. She doesn't have the power Perry had, but with right material she'll be great. Where is Pat Benatar in these shows, she kicked Perry's and Stevie Nicks' #$$ everyday.

Regardless, we are living in the time of some great female pop stars with some great voices.

In 2018, it's politically incorrect to criticize someone for their vocals. Nobody should have to be subjected to the negativity of a truthful opinion, because that can be stressful.

Well, Perry (Steve) and Perry (Katy) share the same management company as of fairly recently. And Perry and Lionel go way back to We Are The World 33 years ago, and Lionel is a big Journey fan. So I guess that answers the "how" he came to be there. As to the "why" I can only hope he's reminding everyone he's alive pursuant to releasing something new or even getting out there and doing some shows.

Eels tour starts on Monday.....who knows?

 

Horrible rendition. He was just being nice. The Glee girl did a far better job than this girl. The vocal contestants need to stay away from Perry/Journey songs.

Nothing can top the original "voice." It's not DSB, but a song I love that he did.

 

Looks like we're going to get our wish. Big news is over the last few days is Steve was spotted at a rehearsal space in LA and popped in to lend his pipes to Toad the Wet Sprocket:

I think clearly putting to bed to the rumor that "his voice is shot".

Aaaand, he's taking part in a CBS special on his life set to air in October to talk about...drumroll....the release of his new album.

Fair enough. I'm siding with those defending Steve Perry's comments. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, would have been accomplished for an aging rocker comes across as a sour puss. Kudos to Steve's delicate handling of the situation after being placed on the spot.

What I most thoroughly enjoyed was hearing a great song -- Don't Stop Believin'. They don't write them like that much anymore.
