Very similar to Truth Hits Everybody.

Disliked by many, but I feel it gets a bad rap.

Interesting observation, especially as I feel his voice has possibly aged better than any other 66 year-old career singer. Along with Jon Anderson, Sting has the purest live voice I've ever heard.

There are at least 6 or 7 songsin there that are top notch Sting in my book.

Probably one of the most distinctive voices in music. Obviously at his age he doesn't have the falsetto anymore but he can still sing any Police song.

After hearing his live material from the 57th & 9th tour, I'd say his voice is still in fine form. Live he still sounds like Sting, they just didn't capture that on the album

The recent Blue Ray concert actually shows Sting in fine form.

I wonder how much of it was overdubbed, though.

I believe that Paris show was also broadcast on TV. Not sure if it aired live, but with his touring schedule I kinda doubt he had time to go and recut all the vocals.

He also sounds great on the Bataclan Record Store Day EP and the Live In Chicago fan club album.

The RSD record is great. I wish they’d release a full album of the show on vinyl.

I don't mind as I prefer a polished live recording with postproduction where necessary. When I want a true live feeling, I listen to an audience tape.

There is a full concert video capture ROIO out there, in the usual places where these kinds of things can be had.

  13. I received the new Blu-ray "Live at the Olympia" today, and I watched it all the way through.

It is a really strong live performance, and the two guitar players create wonderful layers of sounds. The audio quality also seemed very good, lots of dynamics left and a full and warm, yet detailed sound/mix.

Incredible version of "Fragile", I thought.

Really cool bonus material with additional live footage as well.

I recently got the vinyl release on blue vinyl- it isn't a killer soundwise like some of his older albums but it's quite good IMHO. The pressing is flawless and the vinyl itself is very quiet.

May I ask if you've heard the CD, and if so, how the two compare? thank you

Sting still has the high range but it gets more difficult as the years pile up. I suspect he's proactively writing songs that he won't have any trouble performing. Not as exciting for sure but it does mean he's very consistent live.

I've just played the blue vinyl, EU cd and Japanse SHM (tour edition) on my headphones and do not hear any discernible differences in terms of sound quality. The vinyl is slightly warmer and seems to have a bit more 'air' but that can also be the distortion that is part of vinyl playback. The blue vinyl is cool, very quiet and has two unique mixes but the Japanes tour edition has the Bataclan bonus tracks from the RSD EP. If I had to choose, I would buy the Japanese cd.

I agree, that would have been a great bonus on the Olympia dvd. This track from Bataclan was released on this VeVo channel

Fortunately, the entire show is available on YouTube:

The 6 live songs on the Japan Tour Edition of 57th & 9th sound excellent, btw.
