  1. So they're not finished? There's still time to stop them?

I'm the same way. I prefer the more rocking Styx than the ballad heavy stuff with Dennis.

Although I did see Dennis solo last year and he is still very entertaining.

Not to be a threadcrap, but if a "Styx" album doesn't include Tommy, JY, and Dennis, I'm not interested.

Holy smokes, all I can say is don't ever try to get into the history of Fleetwood Mac! :yikes:

I like Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac and apparently not one member here got that what I posted was a "joke"! That was just an old "Radio morning show comedy bit", which I was hoping that everyone would laugh at. I mean, here we all are on the forum of a guy who remasters old music and nobody got the joke that I spelled out, "Digitally Remumbled For Stereo Inaudibility".

To be honest, all that went past me as I was only responding to the part of your quote I bolded above. I actually hadn't see any references to Ms. Nicks when I initially responded, since your post came before all that. So I was actually surprised when I read the entire thread afterwards and saw that FM had been brought up before my own response. If that weren't enough, that band's history predates Stevie Nicks by six lead vocalists. Her and Lindsey were actually #7 and #8 in a long line of front men (and women) that would eventually number 12.

    Ken.e. Spinning music since...

Lawrence Gowan as Gowan had a couple of good albums in the eighties and might have a few Styx worthy songs up his sleeve. He may sound like DD and he tends to be a very similar theatrical type singer but he is not just a carbon copy of DD. He really is performing in a similar manner to what made him famous in the eighties just doing DD songs instead of his own.

I saw Styx live 3 times, twice in the eighties and in 2016. They were good in 2016 but I got guitar soloed out by about half way through. Gowan's Criminal Mind fit right in to the Styx set list and was actually very refreshing.

I would be interested in hearing what they do but wouldn't have high expectations.

Styx was fine with Dennis DeYoung. Styx was great when Tommy Shaw came aboard.

Great song! Stands up with anything Styx has ever put to record. Cyclorama does manage a few good songs. If you take songs from Dennis' One Hundred Years From Now and some of the good Tommy/JY songs from Cyclorama, it makes for a helluva Styx album.

Found it on Amazon. This says 6/16 release but the first one I saw said 6/6. Label is Universal.

So far only a preorder for CD. Interesting that the artwork would have a turntable but it isn't available on vinyl. Maybe that will come later. And something looks "not right" with that Styx logo.

In my view what made Styx was the balance of the two, often more or less at the same time.

However, I thought they did a good job with Cyclorama. And I'll definitely be checking out the new album when it comes out.
