The previous VC album (In The Presence of Greatness) fits better here.

If you like this kind of music, and Easter's sound, I couldn't recommend Boylan Heights and Cypress more highly. You can probably get CDs of both albums for under $3.00 on eBay or Amazon, sadly.

Roger McGuinn has attributed his sound to a combination of the Rickenbaker 12-string, added compression, banjo-picking and other folk music techniques, such as Travis picking.

This one kills two birds with one stone because it features Juliana Hatfield (she's on bass and vocals in the audio not the video)

Felt, with all of those hyperactive arpeggios, is one of the ultimate bands in this category, but here are a few recent ones:

    Literature – Chorus
The Ginnels – A Country Life

Yes, Teenage Symphonies is more an anomaly in Velvert Crush discography I heard, more a take on the grunge sound back than.

  8. Jeff Hatcher of The Blue Shadows is a great jangle guitarist and he doesn't always play a Rickenbacker.

The Smiths are the obvious answer.

'Jangly' was indeed very popular in the UK in the 80's with various 80's bands. The C86 bands were kinda split down the middle, half sounded jangly and poppy and the other half sounded like Captain Beefheart (the Ron Johnson bands).

Anyway, I think there were three great bands that sounded 'jangly' early on who were very good, these are the albums to check out:

Close Lobsters - Foxheads Stalk This Land
    McCarthy - I Am A Wallet
Wolfhounds - Unseen Ripples From A Pebble (just reissued, their most jangly album)

Actually, the followup, Heavy Changes, is heavier. That one unfortunately isn't as good. Paul and Ric did rebound with Free Expression though.

Johnny Marr was also a Rickenbacker player for some time. This one definitely has that jangliness to it.

Never heard of this, sounds great, you would never think this is from 1981.

Here's a band I'm not into, The Decemberists, doing an excellent R.E.M. impression with the help of Peter Buck, who I understand appears elsewhere on the album this track appears on--jangly!!!

I initially took offense at this song and the Stipe-like vocal phrasing, but lightened up a bit when I learned Buck was involved. Now I like it as a good R.E.M. rip-off.

Truth! Phil Seymour sang lead on many of the songs and his voice is absolutely stunning.
