Some of the YSS mixes are my definitive versions.

So true. It's $79 on Amazon USA and over $130 euros!!
So it does seem, especially on the European sites that they, Amazon, only have 1 left, or a few. So maybe it did go out of print-the BluRay version that is.

Well, if the powers that be wanted to get this stuff, especially the video's out for copyright protection, they succeeded. And they made some $ too. They can let it go out of print and 10 years or so from now re release it to a new generation of fans/collectors and keep the circus going.
With NEW physical media really starting to disappear,(slowly) and them (the machine that is) getting more and more control over the distribution of their product, they really don't have to worry about pirating, except from China maybe.
What I don't understand is the overprinting of all the CD and LP Box Sets. They are all still available. I just saw a 'Capitol Albums' Volume One on amazon around an hour ago from ImportCD's, going "Like New' for $15 + shipping.
So even though the '1 +' box might go out of print, there will forever be copies to be had for both big money and cheap, as in used.

Without a doubt. In fact, when I first got the LP, not cd but the Vinyl, I did NOT know they were remixed versions, I only found that out later. But from the start, esPECIALLY 'Hey Bulldog', Good God that thing just blew me away right out the gate.
No disrespect to Gems-A-Bems, different strokes is what makes the world an interesting place.
I'd hate it if everyone I knew agreed with me all the time.

Maybe they were spooked when the demand for the mono box took them by surprise, and didn't want to be caught short like that again. Just speculation on my part.

Imagine how short and un-interesting Beatle threads would be if we all agreed here.

Very True. That's why I didn't want anybody thinking I was putting someone down.
Now, has anybody figured out whether the 1+ BluRay is indeed out of print??

I don't know if it's actively still in print, but my local Best Buy has a copy of the Blu Ray 1+ set priced at $59.99.

    I just got a used copy of the Blu-ray 1+ set for $25 :)

Not sure if this has been discussed already, but is 1+ considered to be a CD compilation with Blu-rays as bonus discs, or a Blu-ray set with the original CD comp as a bonus?

Well the "+" part certainly refers to the extra BD but really I'd say both are accurate and it's simply a combo set, as some of the musical content/ mixes are unique to one or the other. And I believe you can buy the CD or BD separately so I'd say they're equal to me.

I used the shape of the 1+ box to determine that it's a video disc with a CD extra. It lives on my DVD/Blu-ray shelves.

Old Fred: Well, lads, what do you think?

    George: I think that...

Old Fred: Remember, there'll be rough seas ahead [with no mono, some missing piano and a botched fade-out]! What do you think?

    Paul: Well, um...

Old Fred: Pounding overwhelming [remixed stereo and 5.1] waves! What do you think of that, eh?

    John: Well, I think that...

Ringo: As a matter of fact, I think that...

George, Paul, John, Ringo: I think...

    Old Fred: Well?

George, Paul, John, Ringo: I've forgotten.

It had lots of new mixes & restored videos for 1/2 the price or less, than the new Sgt Pepper 50.

It's Apples & Oranges to some extent, but the 2 releases are pretty comparable in a lot of ways, & Beatles 1+ had good value for the money.

Anyone know if this or the sister thread contains a track by track breakdown of sources? I finally picked this up on account of the 2015 remixes of FAAB and RL and got curious about the other tracks...

Are any of the 5.1 mixes great or even really good? If so, which ones?
