THE BEATLES 'Abbey Road' recording sessions, 40th Anniversary in Pictures

In the J& Y photo it looks like they're recording their "Heartbeats" for The Wedding Album

 

In 1969 they looked like they were in their 20's.

 

When my friends and I were in our 20s, we looked younger by comparison.

 

Those are great, is there any pic with at least three of them in one shot?

Yeah I think I see one that has Paul and George with John in the backround

They have to be just rehearsing with a fan blowing a few feet away from the mic, don't they?
The mic would pick up the hum, unless it was a really quiet fan!

 

Those feet belong to Yoko, she took the photos from the bed installed on Studio Three! I'm sure she kept quiet!

They did some overdubs on some songs, including Timpani on 'Carry That Weight'.

All those pics of the Beatles "recording" are just staged, correct? Could/would the engineers really allow a camera clicking that close to a Neumann microphone while they're tracking?

 

No, not staged; most of them would have been taken while rehearsing or just waiting around. As happens a lot in recording studios.

What is that thing John has his hands on? A 4 way theramin? Some sort of routing box for headphones, with poles
to hang the cans on when not in use?
