I can't believe I have to say this but the funniest Beatles song is CLEARLY Rocky Raccoon! I mean, come on!

Her name was McGill and she called herself Lil but everyone knew her as Nancy?
Now she and her man, who called himself Dan?
Comedy gold.

I mean the whole thing is funny, from the intro with the stupid accent to Gideon leaving the bible to help with poor Rocky's revival.

Seriously though, no matter how many times I hear it this song always makes me smile.

 

You'll Be Mine, Anthology 1. An absolute scream.

 

I used to agree but it's turned into an occasional listen as the laughter obscures the music, and in the vault they had a much better alt version.

... It wasn't THAT funny!

Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) has always cracked me up.John sitting fire to the chicks bedroom and watching it burn is not only brilliant plain talk writing but also the best presentation of Johns barbed wit&humour up to that point.

 

Agreed...especially the stereo version on Anthology; you really get to hear the gibberish goings on during the club portion...very funny, mostly complements of Lennon...also, his gibberish at the end of the song struck me as hysterical the first time i heard it. Still brings a smile to my face.

 

Their take on "Three Cool Cats" from the Decca Audition is very chuckle-worthy.

"The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill" always made me laugh especially as a little kid

I always got a kick out of Don't Pass Me By. Not only does it have some funny lines but the way it's played makes it seem more like a song from 1928 than 1968. It's got this oddball galumphing beat that's just, I don't know, slapstick or something. It's a good song though in my opinion. When Ringo wants to do it, he really has an authentic US country style that is shockingly genuine for a British guy.

 

Just about everything The Beatles recorded makes me smile and happy, but nothing makes me laugh.

I do love that And Your Bird Can Sing laughing version on Anthology 2. The Think For Yourself studio chat posted above is great to hear too. History being made and The Beatles at their peak as a band all getting along. Think For Yourself has always been a favourite of mine. One of George's best.
