The Doors - Waiting for the Sun and 1968 tour 50th anniversary discussion

Moving on from the IOW release, the Waiting for the Sun 50th anniversary is rapidly approaching. I am very excited!!! The Doors camp did a wonderful job on the 2 previous 50th releases. Bring it on guys!!!
What do they have in the vaults from the 1968 tour? Are there any outtakes or unreleased gems from the Waiting for the Sun recording sessions? Lots of rumors as usual for one of the greatest Rock and Roll bands in history.

 

I no absolutely nothing about Waiting for the Sun Mono except for what was recently released on the 45rpm box. Fantastic release!!! Please don’t complain about the box art. As an artist I can appreciate another artists rendition of the band. I really don’t need another picture of Jim with his shirt off,Bravo on the Art!!! It’s what is inside the box that is top notch. Not one skip,click or pop on any of the records!!!

 

Five to One is one of my favorites. I always wondered how many takes they did or even how they constructed it.

 

The two previous ones were horrible imo. The Doors 50th had a trash stereo remaster that sounded worse and didn’t even include all of the Matrix tapes. Strange Days had the same stereo remaster and nothing else other thsn the mono. I have zero hopes for this ones 50th, but hey, I get it all for free anyway. Well, $11 a month,

 

The debut album box set was an overpriced, bloated mess. It was nice to see the mono reissue of Strange Days issued on CD, but the anniversary set was largely underwhelming.

 

I guess The Doors live release discussion thread was closed down today. It’s completely gone. That’s 3 Doors threads in a week.

 

Anyone know the track list for the upcoming Matrix RSD release?

The Doors are my FAV band of all time and I've spent a TON of money on their stuff. That said, I'm done buying "remasters" of their stuff as in the past I really haven't heard much of a difference from the original release / pressings I've collected. I'm out .....

I had high hopes for the 50th sets of the debut and Strange Days, those hopes were dashed unfortunately. Waiting For the Sun is one of my favorites of all time and needless to say my expectations have lowered. Definitely a series of missed opportunities to this point.

 

It’s gone. I can’t find it either. I guess it was shut down sometime this morning. I don’t know what happened,I missed it,I guess.

3 Doors (threads) Down....wait that's another band. Forget it.

 

The anniversary series has been, up to now, pretty inconsistent. I can't see a clear policy or direction, nor in the content, nor in the packaging department. Nevertheless, having the mono mixes has been great, as well as having the original stereo mixes back. But, if I recall correctly, in the case of Waiting for the Sun, the mono is only a fold-down, so it won't be of interest, so I don't know what will they plan to include now.

 

Per above, they were deleted. Perhaps room is needed on the site server for our Host's special project?
