I agree. The Capitol cover never made sense to me. Release an album of 'early' Beatles & use a current photo of them.

I agree, but Capitol probably thought that nobody would be sophisticated enough to know the difference, and when the album came out that may have been right. However, Capitol didn't think about anybody caring 50 years later. Just like they didn't care when they used a BFS variation on the sleeve of the single of "Nowhere Man."

I remember this cover! This is the one that got pasted over, right?!

Nice cover shot. As for the album, it's just an abridged and resequenced version of Please Please Me.

Not sure if you're joking, but "Yesterday and Today" was the one that got pasted over with a replacement cover. The version of "Early Beatles" in the original post is just "fan art"...

Even years later, Ringo still had no sense of decorum....

    I've just seen Paul's sandals!
    That is some nasty footwear.
Thank God he didn't wear them on the album cover!
The rumour would have been 'Paul's fashion sense is, er, dead, man."

It is amazing how much slower time was then.

It was basically two years between this release of the "Early Beatles and the actual release of the material, yet it feels like 10 years!

And I get why they didn't put "I Saw Her Standing There" on the LP, but why hold back "There's a Place" and "Misery"?

Terrible cropping at the legs. Macca looks silly when he's trying to be tough instead of cute.

I like the remake much more than the original. At least the photo(s) look like they're from the correct time frame. The colorized black and white photo looks nice but was anyone colorizing photos like that back then?

Here's another one I've always liked:

Maybe Paul's trying to hail a taxi to go home for some more appropriate footwear?

John: Forget it Paul, nobody will ever notice. :D

We've seen that Ringo slouch before. At the Wash. D.C. Concert, he does the same slouch after trying to rotate his drum riser at the beginning of the concert.
