Even though every guitar fitted him, he looks a bit uncomfortable with the Flying-V. But then again, that show (which I love) has a lot of technical problems (amps catching radio signals and guitars going out of tune in the middle of a performance) and Hendrix grows tired.

Brian Tatler played a white Flying V on all the early Diamond Head material, so you can add Am I Evil, Helpless, Sucking My Love, etc to the list. One day I'll learn how to post a pic...

He did use a V at the Isle of Wight but it's a different one to the painted one.
The painted one is a 1967 stock item which he painted and played upside down.
The one at the Isle of Wight was made for him by Gibson. A left handed model with bound neck, split diamond parallel inlays and gold hardware.

The Flying V is such an archtypal heavy metal instrument, it's hard to believe it wasn't designed in the 70's! It must have caused some head-shaking in the 50's.

Who says you can't use leftover wood scraps for an electric guitar body!

Not all flying V's are created equal. I had one for over 15 years. I tried everything to get it to play in tune and sound the way I wanted. Never succeeded. I eventually unloaded it. They are a little unwieldy to play especially sitting down. However, they are still the coolest looking guitars ever built, especially the Gibson ones. Unfortunately, the SG is a way more user friendly guitar and that's what I use now.

In my opinion, the unquestionable King of the Flying V is Michael Schenker. He can make that guitar do magic.

I personally never cared for the design, too gimmicky for my taste. Much rather have an SG.
But happy anniversary at any rate.
