A friend of mine posted this to Facebook yesterday. I love the fall '71 Dark Stars and this is a great one.
So I just realised that since I started with the first show of 1990 back in February, I've now made it all the way through the final show of the Spring 1991 tour. I don't know whether to feel proud or ashamed.
There was one other acoustic set in 1981. A short four song set on The Tomorrow Show: On The Road Again, Cassidy, Dire Wolf and Deep Elem Blues. I think they were promoting Reckoning, which was released one month prior to this appearance. This episode of TTS was later released on DVD as the "Electric Kool-Aid Talk Show."
Ooh.... that feel when you have shows downloaded but no room left on your external drive Time to get another one then!

Yea, those came out on etree a week or so ago. Glad their up on the Archive now. That Carson show is the pits, though Easily the worst I've ever heard.
That was on 13 April 1982, just after a couple of shows at Nassau. I watched that show when it was broadcast, and the next night saw the boys perform Deep Elem Blues at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Nice. I like that Wharf rat. Jerry looks(youtube) completely stoned out of his mind but it's a good version
The DVD and setlists.com list it as 5/7/81. The SetList Program - Grateful Dead Setlists, Listener Experiences, and Statistics »
Guys, guys, holy crap I'm having one of my moments. 4/9/91 - Orlando THIS FOOLISH HEART Go listen. NOW! If you in any way are a fan of this song, this version ust be heard. A monstrous 20-minute mammoth workout. Just insane awesomeness.
Which show/s did he use the Sunburst Les Paul with the Mini-Humbuckers? I'd love to hear some of that.
Check out post # 28716 Definitely at the BCT shows in August of 71, I believe it was also used in the Capitol Theatre run in February. He is depicted playing the Rick Turner Peanut with the Les Paul Custom neck at Manhattan Center in early April, which seems to be also on the Fillmore Run documented in Ladies and Gentlemen. He's on record saying something like 'when I play a guitar I like to play it for a while' but he moved around a lot in 71, but without a lot of definitive photos its hard to tell what he played from night to night.
I've found a download of the soundboard which has been fixed so Phil is not so loud in the mix. I shall give it a listen as soon as possible and report back.
My bad, they were on Letterman on 13 April 1982, and played Deep Elem Blues. I knew I had seen them on TV before the 82 show in Glens Falls!
