Oh, man... that Mosaic Commodore set! Drool... Definitely the holy grail of Mosaics to me, especially since I don't have it! There was never a CD release of that, right? Just the 66 (gulp!!!) LPs.

But anyway, the Condon/Freeman set is fantastic -- pound-for-pound one of my all-time favorite Mosaics. I can play any disc all the way through and find myself reaching for another one when the disc ends. The transfers and mastering are simply beautiful.

I must admit to enjoying the added blurb DrJ, very informative. Thanks:righton:

(LP Blue Note Liberty Blue White Stereo BST-84203) .... recorded June 1964 .... John Gilmore (ts) + Bobby Hutcherson (vib) + Andrew Hill (p) + Richard Davis (b) + Joe Chambers (dr) .... formidable Blue Note date benefiting both from Bobby Hutcherson`s magic and underrecorded (i.e outside of the"Sun Ra Universe") John Gilmore`s angular solo performances .... another Blue Note session which was not part of King Records Japan reissues in the late 70`s so this very good sounding Liberty Stereo release from 1967 thankfully came to the rescue ....

(LP HORO Records HDP 25-26) .... recorded January 1978 .... John Gilmore (ts) + Michael Ray (tp) + Sun Ra (keyboards) + Luqman Ali (dr) .... one of two Sun Ra small group recordings for Aldo Sinesio`s dubious (to say the least) HORO Label .... a different possibility to marvel about the stellar capabilities of John Gilmore .... still wondering whether we will ever witness quality reissues of this "treasure" trove label ....

    Hey Atane,

Nice pics, as always. Got it myself and thinks it sounds quite nice. Wish ORGM would use better packaging, though.

I agree, but I got this for $13 on ebay, so I won't complain. It sounds wonderful. ORG reissues are great.

I listened to some samples of disc 1 yesterday. I was quite surprised by the sound quality, which has richness ("meaty" sound to the piano) and depth without sounding brittle in the high end. I'm usually not such a fan of those mid 90s McMasters.

Now playing (old photo) Prince Lasha - The Cry! Original Contemporary pressing in stereo. This album needs an audiophile digital reissue... instead of the 10th upcoming reissue of Way Out West :sigh:

Nice one. Phil Cohran is still playing at almost 90. Are you a fan of his sons, the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble?

On the TT. Original Mono pressing. I love how everyone is playing straight and Monk is playing a little "outside". Beautiful album and pressing.

30 years of collecting. I inherited a few from my Dad when he passed but the majority of my blue notes and the really hard to find stuff was hunted for and caught in the wild by me.
