The Best Of Odyssey 1945-1952 Dizzy Gillespie (Savoy Jazz) CD A well selected single disc compilation that spans a 7 year period. I'm still hoping to find the 3CD edition (at a reasonable price).
Kenny Burrell - Introducing Blue Note (1956) TOCJ-1523 Guitar – Kenny Burrell Piano – Tommy Flanagan Congas [Conga Drum] – Candido Bass – Paul Chambers Drums – Kenny Clarke
Kenny Dorham 'Round About Midnight at the Cafe Bohemia On SHM CD. Live set from '56 with JR Monterose, Bobby Timmons, Kenny Burrell, Sam Jones & Arthur Edgehill. Excellent live set with great sonics. I stayed away from this for so long for whatever reason. I shouldn't have. And this SHM has a bunch of bonus tracks that are all lovely.
Great music but an unpleasant sounding mastering - I had it, but preferred the Alan Yoshida-mastered XRCD.
Bill Evans Trio - Moonbeams Riverside (1962) Analogue Productions CAPJ 9428 SA Piano – Bill Evans Bass – Chuck Israels Drums – Paul Motian

S/T from Hadley Caliman on CD. Recorded in '71 with Bill Douglas (bass), Clarence Becton (drums), John White Jr (Guitar) & Larry Vuckovich (piano). Originally on Mainstream and produced by Bob Shad. There's some excellent music here, unfortunately the CD mastering has all the dials turned to 11. Woof, terrible that this is an entrant into the loudness wars. Is the Boplicity CD any better??? If not, I'll search out an LP because I think the tracks are strong.
Sonny Stitt's Stomp Off Let's Go on CD reissue. Good songs, but not my favorite Stitt. Originally on Flying Dutchman, it's the way the drums are recorded that drag this a bit for me. The music's good, and the reissue mastering is fine. I need to give this one a few more listens. With Stitt are Richard Davis, Lou Bellson, Frank Owens, Buck Pizzarelli, Jon Faddis & Lew Soloff. A damn fine crew!
Charles McPherson's Today's Man from '73 on reissue CD with Lawrence Evans, Billy Higgins, Chris Woods, Frank Wess, Julius Watkins, Barry Harris, Garnett Brown, Cecil Bridgewater & Richard Williams. I love this one top to bottom. Great ensemble playing and compositions. Definitely recommended.
As mentioned elsewhere for pre-order Bitches Brew Quadraphonic SA-CD Multi Hybrid Edition [Limited Release] Miles Davis SACD

This is among the Top 10 best Blue Note albums, period. Imho of course.
Back to Blue Note. This time Cliff Jordan & John Gilmore's Blowing In from Chicago via AP SACD red layer. Legendary session from '57 with Horace Silver, Curly Russell & Art Blakey. RVG takes his lumps on this forum but he sure tee'd it up for everyone to polish years down the road. This one is very enjoyable and one I wish I'd gotten sooner.
(CD Xanadu Elemental Music EM-906072) 2015 .... recorded September 1975 @ RCA Studios, New York City .... Jimmy Heath (ts) + Barry Harris (p) + Sam Jones (b) + Billy Higgins (dr) .... Jimmy Heath in top form (btw same applies to the formidable rhythm section) .... as already mentioned earlier in this thread the Elemental Music reissues do carry superb sound .... (IMO) not to be missed ....
