    From the Daily Mirror (UK):

Seventies pop group The Kinks are making a comeback and may play Glastonbury, it emerged last night.

Kinks frontman Ray Davies, 72, revealed plans to perform with brother Dave, 69, after reaching a truce following one of the longest feuds in rock ’n’ roll history.

Ray told a newspaper: “Dave and I will definitely work together again. And we want to play live.”

He said the pair intend to tour, adding: “Maybe The Kinks could play Glastonbury?”

The band, which also included Mick Avory and Pete Quaife, enjoyed huge success in the 1960s and ’70s with hits such as Waterloo Sunset and Lola.

But the brothers have had a series of bust-ups over the years, including one when Ray stamped on Dave’s 50th birthday cake.

They disbanded in 1996 and Dave has since played down reunion talk, saying: “You don’t need to see silly old men in wheelchairs singing You Really Got Me.”

But last December they sang the 1964 No1 when performing together for the first time in 20 years in Islington, North London.

The Kinks, (L-R) Dave Davies, Ray Davies, Peter Quaife, and Mick Avory, wait on the set of a television show, ready to perform.

The success of West End musical Sunny Afternoon and a biopic tipped for release next year has triggered more interest.

Ray, named classic songwriter at the Q Awards on Wednesday, aims to bring the musical to the US where the band has a huge following.

He said: “We’re talking about taking the show to New York.”

The band nearly reformed for the 40th anniversary of their breakthrough in 2003 but Dave suffered a stroke. In 2013 he said a 50th anniversary tour had a 50/50 chance of happening.

We get a story like this almost every week, and it's usually just a load of old quotes with wild assumptions.

Yes. Except these quotes are from three days ago. Silly me, I shouldn't have bothered posting it.

  4. I think i would rather remember them as they were; not sure if i fancy seeing them now

Agree. What's the chance they would actually enhance their legacy?

    They'd enhance their wallets though ... ;)

Seriously, with their respective ages (Ray is 72 and Dave is a few years younger), their time for one last go-around is almost expired.

I'm not holding my breath, but it would be cool to see them do a few shows.

What are the odds for a new album in all this?

They're younger and more alive than they ever will be for the rest of time, so I say go for it.

In the far future, the distance between 1966 and 2016 will be infintensimal.

Maybe it would be good for them. What I get out of it isn't really important.

Well, that ends the rumors for today. So enjoy the rest of today without any nonsense clogging up our heads.

But regardless: God Save The Kinks!

Well, at least this Forum needs The Kinks Brothers to perform and/or record again.

It will give us something else to chomp about; besides countless threads asking:
"When Was The Who's Legacy Lost To the (Teenage) Wasteland???"

    ;)

i think he was making a tongue in cheek remark with regards playing a huge festival.
i was not impressed with the footage i saw of ray and dave playing together a few years ago.

The Kinks have extremely limited live appeal. If they reformed they would be playing 2,000 seater theatres not stadiums. They could play Glastonbury but would be way down the bill, maybe the Sun afternoon "nostalgia slot". Nowhere near enough pulling power for something like Desert Trip.
