Yesterday, on a local station here in Maine, I heard, after not listening to it for many, many years, The Mama and the Papas' Twelve Thirty. It is not every day that I get the goose bumps in listening to a song, but I did. Amazing song! What CD would you folks recommend that would contain this song and would have the best sound available?

"16 Of Their Greatest Hits" mastered by Steve Hoffman. Search the forum and you can find out all you need to know about it. :)

A great "Summer Of Love" tune!

If there's a compilation that includes "12:30" and also "Dancing Bear", that will give you a double dose of goosebumps. "Dancing Bear" was a flop single, but it's my personal favorite of their songs.

My favourite Mamas & Papas track, great harmonies, outstanding emotional build-up and a nice little touch of counter-melody. Amazing arrangement!

This one is great but I think their 2nd record has my favorite tunes of theirs. Splitting hairs, I know.

Agree 100% - I think it's their finest moment and on the short list for best single of '67... and there were a LOT of great singles in '67.

Twelve Thirty and I Saw Her Again Last Night are two of my favorite Mamas and Papas tunes....John Phillips was a freakin' genius.

That chorus can go on forever as far as I'm concerned.

Those are my two favorites as well. I'm actually glad they don't get played as much as some others because I don't want to ever tire of them.

The lyrics are very much of tbeir time, very evocative of the "summer of love".

Ever notice how every verse of this song has a different tune?

I have to be 100% honest and say that the only way to "fully" enjoy the great "Twelve Thirty", is by playing the original Dunhill mono 45. My wife and I play that 45 at least once every other week, in my Seeburg "R" jukebox and it really cooks!

Funny I was just listening to this on my car radio Sunday and thinking it was amazing. The disc I was playing was Steve's 16 of their Greatest which is incredible sounding. I think it is all stereo and inexpensive. When I listen to this disc, I can't stop thinking about Cass' wonderful voice and the way it cuts through everything and soars.

Love this song - very '67/summer of love and possibly better than "California Dreaming".

I like Twelve Thirty and it's a fine song but I like others a little more: Look Through My Window, I Saw Her Again Last Night, No Salt On Her Tail, Glad To Be Unhappy, Monday Monday, California Dreaming. It's all good!

My favorite Mamas and Papas song as well. Another great one with a similar "summer of love" vibe is Safe In My Garden.

Great song, and I too get goosebumps listening to it. It's quite similar to the Phillips'-penned "San Francisco
(Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)" sung by Scott McKenzie. I always wish the M&P's had done their version of it- John Phillips was certainly on a roll during that period!
