I just bought the "Mastering Engineer's Handbook" by Bobby Owsinski, published by Mix (Magazine) Books. It has several interviews by the likes of Bob Ludwig, Glenn Meadows, Bob Katz, Bernie Grundman, our forum's Bob Olsson, Dave Collins, and other prominent US mastering engineers. The book is a fundamental textbook for any starting/wannabe mastering person. A considerable amount of space is used discussing/ranting about the ongoing practice of compression in today's CDs.
