Another strong opening track..."The Feeling Begins" by Peter Gabriel from the Passion soundtrack. Fantastic percussion and a great recording.
"Moribund the Burgermeister" from the first solo PG is also pretty solid imho.

    Another vote for War Pigs.

Coming out of my first innocent teenage year cocoon in the early 70's listening to am radio and Casey Kasem American Top 40 countdown to hanging out at the stoner's house up the street - War Pigs was the first song I heard by Black Sabbath on his stereo.

Best analogy is those Jet.com commercials - head *BLOWN*.

21st Century Schizoid Man - King Crimson - you knew you were in for something special when this came on
Intruder - Peter Gabriel - Phil Collins' drums make this one
Watcher of The Skies - Genesis - Tony Banks and the Mellotron intro
Black Cow - Steely Dan - always loved this one since it's my favorite SD album
Fallen Angel - Robbie Robertson - probably my all-time favorite opening track by anyone - so beautiful
It's No Game (Part 1) - Bowie - such a powerful opener, and Bowie had plenty of them

Granted, maybe it's not THE most powerful--
but it was the first one that came to mind for some reason.

The Beatles - I Saw Her Standing There.... actually, it you want to count the snippet of ... 1 2 3 4... I'm fine with that as well.

Followed by Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA.
