It was made in the late 70's, Clint Howard and Charles Martin Smith are in it. They form a band called Cotton Candy and attempt to beat Rapid Fire during the Battle of the Bands. I saw this about fifteen years ago (it must of aired at 2:00 a.m.)
I remember that movie! Didn't the battle of the bands take place in a mall? And the lead singer of Rapid Fire made his "big entrance" up the escalator before kicking off a rousing rendition of "I Shot the Sheriff".
That's what happened, and I remember at every appearance Rapid Fire started things off with I Shot the Sheriff.
I just looked on Allmovie.com to see what info they had on the movie and I saw that it was directed by Ron Howard and written by Ron and brother Clint. I never knew that. I'm surprised he doen't talk about that one more. Wow! He's come a long way.
Oh yes, I remember. That darned Rapid Fire, stealing "I Shot The Sheriff" to win the contest. Sheesh. The week that movie first aired, it was all we talked about at school that week. TV Movie of the Week, I believe. They don't make 'em like that anymore. What I wouldn't give for a copy of that movie on VHS or DVD. I've been looking for years, too.
I to remember that. And wasn't I Shot the Sheriff basically the only song Rapid Fire actually knew? Wow. What a trip down memory lane that is. Sadie
I've been looking for this movie for years. If anyone has it, I have loads to offer in trade for it. Ron [email protected]
