I just picked up an original press a few weeks ago of GITM and it is a great sounding LP IMO

Oh absolutely. Easy to find and tremendous sounding.

For clarities sake, my post was a reply to someone else's comments regarding Outlandos D'amour - reissue vs. original pressing.

I want this record pretty bad but B&N pricetag of $38.99... Ouch!! Think I'll just continue my ongoing quest to find a good original copy which, contrary to above, ain't easy to find, not here at least.

I also remember when the 1986 recording sessions were trying to happen, Sting re-recorded several tunes (like DSSCTM '86) because he felt they were better musicians 6 years later. That makes me believe, Sting may not be keen on any 'work in progress' demos seeing the light of day.

I'm a B&N club member, even with discounts, that is still too much for this reissue.

There are a number of places that have it for about $30 - or less.

Good 5.1 mixes of those 2 albums could sound amazing. The existing 5.1 mixes of songs from those albums (available in hi-rez in addition to DTS) are okay, but could certainly be bettered.

Picked this up @ B&N and got it for 30% 0ff. Membership 10% + 20% coupon. I like it and think it sounds great, but I also have a mint US 1st press and it still sounds the best to me.

I have a few "decent" copies so I picked up the reissue. I also have the Nautilus copy which sounds great too.

I guess if it were any other album of theirs I'd grab a half speed master, but GitM is my least favorite.

Outlandos is my jam! Also it would've made plenty of sense for Synchronicity seeing as it was released in 1983. 35 year anniversary.

I will stick with the CD I bought in the 1980s, it has always sounded great to me.

But I hope those who buy this reissue enjoy it very much.
