sorry didn't see this post when I posted, but I think he was credited later on the CD rerelease-at least on the specific tracks he did.

Well, they have to save some bands for 20 years from now where there's no good bands left.

We were talking about bands inducted in the Hall of Fame. Badfinger hasn't been inducted.

My mistake. I have to re-read A Wizard/A True Star: Todd Rundgren In The Studio which is the definitive book on Todd's career as a producer.

You are talking about "inducted artists" referring to Todd Rundgren producing, but the OP talks about snubs.

Did I mention this before in this thread? Yes, I did. I'm bringing it up again. Somebody, PLEASE explain the anti-metal bias of the super-secret nominating committee.

Iron Maiden. Judas Priest. Ozzy Osbourne (as a solo artist).

Look up the numbers. Look up the longevity. Look up the international success which continues to this day. I dare you to deny the influence these artists had on future musicians. Or was the problem that they influenced the WRONG KIND of rock musicians? With the WRONG KIND of fans?

I'm not a big metal fan, but to me these type of bands are much much much more the embodiment of "rock" than many that have got in.

I don't even have a problem with rap and pop acts getting in, but really, what's the deal against metal bands not named Black Sabbath or Metallica? Metallica gets in, but their predecessors and major influences don't exist? Wassupwitdat?

Damn straight. How can Maiden, still going strong, get the shaft?

And what about Nilsson, Beefheart, Zombies? Slightly more influential than, say, one-hit-wonder Percy Sledge, yes?

My wife was shocked to find out Pat Benatar isn't in. By the way, she is aware that Yes and Moody Blues aren't in and thinks that's crazy.

I believe that The Zombies were included with the most recent batch of nominations. Let's see if that goes any further.

Because the prototypical rock critics are a bunch of clueless cretins. Nothing against Joan, but she was arguably a one-hit wonder. Pat Benatar is a much more deserving prospect.

  19. No she isn't. Jett embodies the spirit of rock 'n' roll more than a MOR vocalist like Benetar, and has probably had more influence as well.

More influence with critics or musicians?

  21. Both. I've never seen Benetar cited as an influence, other than maybe a Star Search/America Idol contestant or two, whereas I've seen Jett and the Runaways cited several times by alt/punk acts.

At this point I'm guessing Bobby Vee and Pete Burns will get in before The Moodies. Not that I give a ****.

I agree 100% even though I'm barely a metal fan. It's ludicrous that Judas Priest isn't in; they're one of the most influential rock bands of all time. Maiden and Ozzy... absolutely. I would add Blue Oyster Cult, even though they're not "really" a metal band, they had a huge influence on many metal bands.
