You didn't miss it. That's my only gripe too. I ordered the indie only pressing to have the splattered vinyl and the actual album artwork since it's so incredible. The whole thing is well built, and worthy of CB. The story is hilarious and sounds like the dozens of interviews I've watched with him speaking - they didn't change it from his voice, which is great. My favorite track, and I'm not sure how I missed it on the 12" single-ish pressing, is the electric version of "Victim of Love" - listened to it yesterday in the car and damn that's moving.
the new CB - I like it a lot, mostly. The Good Life and Fly Little Girl are by far my least favorites, but the rest of it I really like, and glad to have Slip Away and Stay Away on an LP. Those first 4 songs before the instrumental are bam bam bam all top grade Charles / Daptone. I haven't compared, but is the Instrumental "Black Velvet" the same song as the Sha La Da's Open my Eyes?

I may have to grab the regular issue at the next Daptone sale. Unrelated, I scored the Desco issue of The Sugarman Three's "Soul Donkey" LP off ebay. Never seem to catch the reissue in stock.
Thanks for that. Great stuff. Not sure it makes me like the song more but the process is fascinating. Great backstories oncthe other songs too.
I was just half watching on PBS the end of Julia Louis Dreyfus winning the Mark twain award. As she finishes her thank yous and the credits roll, I’m like ‘holy crap, they’re playing Mellowmatic Mood’! I guess binky griptite led the band for that event? Very cool!

ICYMI, this is a RIDICULOUS interview with Gabe Roth. Maybe the longest interview I've heard him give. Enjoy. Music Makers & Soul Shakers w/ Steve Dawson Gabriel Roth (aka Bosco Mann)
While traveling this weekend I stopped by Colemine/Plaid Room and along with picking up the Postales soundtrak lp, a few things to report- -new DLO3 is mixed and ready to go. However, since recording that album, their drummer has been replaced. Colemine has some contract stuff to work out before they can release. -they are VERY high on the forthcoming solo album from monophonics lead singer Kelly Finnigan. -soul slabs vol 2 will be a 3LP set arriving RSD ‘19 -colemine has switched to a larger distributer and expects LPs to be available at a wider range of shops, particularly for rsd.
Received my Durand Jones & The Indications 45 yesterday of "Don't You Know" / "True Love" in the mail. In stores this Friday. DURAND JONES & THE INDICATIONSDon't You KnowRelease Date: 2/15/19 Studio version of the b-side sounds very similar to live performances of it with some added instrumentation (drums... and strings/horns that are mixed low). Overall feel isn't drastically changed by the added instrumentation. New LP is shaping up nicely from the 4 songs that have been released/performed already: Don't You Know, True Love, Walk Away, and Morning In America
Does anyone know if Daptone and Colemine are all AAA? I know that most albums are recorded to tape for daptone but is the vinyl AAA?
I can't speak for Daptone, but I do know that JJ Golden cuts most of their lacquers. JJ does almost all of our mastering, but most of our lacquers are cut elsewhere. None of our vinyl is AAA. Almost everything is recorded to tape (usually a Tascam 388), but most mixing and mastering is done in the digital realm. Holler with any other questions! -Bob
Did any of you pick up the Cochemea release from Daptone today?! I can't stop spinning this one at the store, it's great!
I did! Waiting for it to hit my doorstep, though. The wait for Media Mail to get from Brooklyn to San Diego can be long and painful. Ha!
