At the time of the Filmore concert (1968)Bob Pridden was only a Roadie.Bob became the Who's "stage" soundman in 1969.
I've had this for a week and all I've listened to is the fantastic 30 minutes of "My Generation"............amazing.
So, uDiscover shipped my CD set on 4/19, and it arrived on 5/7, without the 12x12 print, as noted above. They claimed they were out of them and gave me a full refund. Today, what came in the mail, but the 12x12 print. "Order Date" of 4/28. These are the images: Weird. But I guess it all worked out in the end.
Where would you make a cut or an edit in my Generation to make it shorter? My first impression is to make a cut somewhere about 5:10 and then continue from about 24:10.
Well, I just finished listening to it today on my soundbar. Only Two words to describe it: first one is “Good” and the other is “Lord”. I'm FLOORED with it, absolutely floored. What I love about it is that it's a warts-and-all release. Nothing's perfect, showing that even The 'Oo make mistakes, and it's STILL BLOODY GREAT. The band took off with this concert. Highlights for me are "Summertime Blues", "Can't Explain", "Relax" and "My Way". My cat enjoyed it, too, she loves The 'Oo! I give it a 5/5. The Who sounded like a jet engine taking off here, and some could argue that they were. They landed when they finished the MSG concerts in ‘74.
Currently listening to this now, just bought at a record shop yesterday, on "Relax", what a version! It's too bad "Substitute" and "Pictures of Lily" couldn't be restored. So far, this is a cool recording, can't wait to hear "My Generation" on Disc two. Although, different time and era, I listened to their "Rockpalast" gig in '81 with Kenny Jones a few days ago. Not bad, tame though, compared to what I'm hearing right now, obviously! Now listening to "A Quick One...", YAY!!!!
He was terrific in the Small Faces and the Faces. The problem was that Moonie was much more than just the Who's drummer. He was its soul. Nobody could have filled his shoes. Led Zeppelin is anything but a model for appropriate behavior, but Pete should have settled with the promoters and ended the Who then and there, instead of limping along and setting up all, including Kenney, for failure.
