I just rebought Vivid and Stain CD from Amazon for $2 instead of getting pizza today. I've owned them previously years ago and must have stupidly traded them in.
Of all the Cornell tributes so far, Living Colour's is head and shoulders above the others. This thing flat out smokes.
Can anyone recommend any really good quality live sets from Living Colour? Doesn't matter if it's Youtube, or CD or LP.... This thread has me remembering how great they were live a few years ago in a small club. All jazzy, funky and heavy with so many alterations to their music. Would love to hear some full live shows.. ?
The two CBGB albums are great but rough sounding. The Paris Concert set is pretty darned good though. I'd start with that one. Their cover of Papa Was a Rolling Stone is ferocious.
I remember Corey stabbing himself in the thigh because he wasn't enjoying his tour of duty in Vietnam. That's always the first thing I think of whenever anyone mentions Living Colour.
Just finished a first listen on Apple Music. If you like the band, you'll probably like it. A few more bluesy tracks, which is cool. Not a huge departure, for the most part, but since their discography is pretty small, this might be a good thing. And since someone will ask, yes it's compressed to hell, so don't expect anything great in that department from digital versions.
Just ordered the disc. Sounds good on Spotify. A return to form is the general consensus according to reviews.
