Another one of these lists.........anyway, my only comment is that I would think Pink Floyd would've been higher on the list, but what do I know?

No Miles Davis, no Frank Sinatra. I don't have a big appreciation for either of those guys, but if it's titled "The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time" I'd expect they'd make the cut.

I'd put David Guetta right after Chuck Berry.

I think Run-D.M.C. should be ahead of Public Enemy, but I do agree they are the two greatest rap groups of all time.

Wu-Tang and NWA should aldo be included. :)
    Don't forget John Coltrane.
They've always had something against MJ. He and Madonna should both be higher.
Don't worry Beyonce will be added to the list in the future. I just don't know if she will be ranked higher or lower than "Diana Ross and the Supremes".

The title of that book is wrong. It should be called "The 100 greatest artists for american audiences", then it may make sense.
For European audiences this list is absurd with Pink Floyd and Queen somewhere in the 50s, no ABBA...no Bee Gees....some Prince higher rated than David Bowie....

Joni Mitchell is too low on the list. Below Patti Smith and Janis Joplin? Absolutely not. She should be in the top 20. Also, I don't think Eminem should be on this list at all.

I'd put Brian Wilson/Beach Boys above the Stones based on Pet Sounds and Smile. I wouldn't include Lennon solo - he's already in via The Beatles and his solo work is mostly a waste of valuable music storage space. I'd put Orson Welles, Eric Dolphy and Mingus in there too but that's another story.

Beastie Boys should've been left off.
Kanye West, NWA & Wu-Tang should've been included.
Pink Floyd is ranked too low.
Jerry Lee Lewis is ranked too high.

Lists are kinda stupid and always flawed. Read it as a bit of fun but don't take it seriously (U2 above the Clash, someone is having a laugh).

Pretty uncontroversial at the top ... something of a joke near the bottom. But, really, what do you expect?

That's true, they've always been so transparent when it came to their disdain for him. He's still the greatest that ever stepped on a stage EVER.

I'm afraid Madonna wouldn't get her dues till she passes :(

I was joking about Beyonce btw

No Mountain? Blue Öyster Cult? Deep Purple? Pentagram? And The Stooges way down at #78?? Allow me to be the first to say: "Hey Beavis, this sucks. Change it."

But seriously, folks, there are at least four in there that I'd like to show the door, and quite a few more, in addition to those I've already said that I think should be on the list.

Ah, well, at least The Velvet Underground is on there, though I'd place them in the top 10.

True but just the same it was ridiculous when music magazines in England seemingly had Queen or The Stone Roses as the greatest band/artist of all time in their lists in the 2000's.

Look at their ranking for Thriller. Can't take them too seriously.
She's the last Pop megastar. No female singer on/off the list can match her musical accolades/accomplishments.
Beyonce will also be considered one of the all time greats by Rolling Stone. Eventually earning herself a place on the list. I'm not a fan at all but I'm sure it will happen.
She's still relatively new to the music scene and is already considered one of the most influential (within her genre) and is a world renowned iconic figure.

Where the heck is Paul McCartney?
He should be ahead of John Lennon as a solo artist
The Kinks are way too low
The Ramones ahead of The Who??? (and I like the Ramones, but they are way too high)
Roy Orbison was a good guy, but he shouldn't be that high (nor should Johny Cash, who wasn't always such a nice guy) though I'm glad to see both on the list (along with Hank Williams)
    CCR should be higher
    REM should be higher.
They did get #1 right at least!
    Howlin Wolf???
Good to see some love for the Velvet Underground. 30 years ago they wouldn't have made the top 100!
I just checked again to make sure I hadn't missed Paul McCartney. The idea of some of these people ahead of him is a complete joke.
Glad to see the Byrds on here. I think it was a VH-1 top 100 that left them off completely.
My own list would be much different (and better in my humble opinion!)

Paul is SO underrated as a solo artist :(. I LOVE his stuff with the Beatles but that's not even half of the musical legacy the man will leave when he's passed.

The Eagles? Really? I mean, I like them, but Top 100? Of course, I could say that about some of the others too... The Doors, Elton John, The Police, Aerosmith etc etc...

No room for Paul Simon on his own? Two great albums with Art and seven or so on his own?
