Tim Finn's new album 'The View Is Worth The Climb' has just been released in Australia and New Zealand.

I'm really looking forward to hearing the completed album. Tim's last two releases 'The Conversation' and 'Imaginary Kingdom' were fantastic.

It may be too early, but I haven't heard any plans for a U.S. release. Unfortunately, Tim's last album 'The Conversation' never did come out in the states. It's only available as an import.

Any thoughts or reviews for those who've got the CD?

Here's a preview of the first single 'Going Going Gone' from Tim's website:

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be on the look out for an affordable import copy of this one.

Amazon has it for around $36 but it's listed as Out Of Stock. I had to wait awhile before I found a copy of 'The Conversation' for under $20.

I might have to get a copy through the fanclub.

I'm on record on a different thread as loving his eponymous album.

The above site (of which, I know nothing) has it for $25.00. I like that single. Somehow I missed The Conversation and Feeding The Gods. Keeping an eye out for them.

I've seen the promo for Going Going Gone and, frankly, I was underwhelmed by the song. However, I have enough faith in Tim to pick up the album when I can eventually find a cheap import.

Forum members who picked this up on release have had a few days to listen, so..................any impressions? :)

    What are the stand-out tracks?

Any uptempo cuts, or is the whole album medium tempo?

How is the sound quality? The streaming single of 'Going Going Gone' sounds GREAT to my ears!

I'll check out the feedback on Frenzforum.com as well.

Wow... can't wait to hear it.

I love Tim's music; he suffers a bit (perhaps) from being in Neil's shadow, I wish he were more popular. His music has a lot of heart.

Tim Finn and band guested on Afternoons With Jim Mora today, minus bass and drums due to our tiny studio. They played new songs People Like Us and The View Is Worth the Climb, plus ol' Enz classic My Mistake.

The archived interview and performance is on Radio New Zealand's website: http://www.radionz.co.nz/national/music/talk?result_551217_result_page=F
Scroll down and you'll find it underneath the session Tim did in 2008.

I caught their album launch show in Auckland last night. Great band and Tim's in fine form.

I am really excited about this! To my ears, anything released by the Finn Brothers (in any configuration) is gold. I hope to pick up this new CD tomorrow.

Well. I've been waiting to find this at a decent price but no luck.

You're going to have to pay about $35 for this from a U.S. importer.

After waiting about 6 months, I finally bit the bullet and ordered it. It's in a crummy, cheap digipak, so the packaging really sucks. The booklet is skimpy too.

I've only spun it once, but I can tell it's going to take some time to get into these songs. This one may be a grower.

Any impressions from some of you who've lived with this album for a while now?

I think it's a very consistent album. Possibly the most consistent album of his career. I'd recommend it to any Finn fan.

A reunion of ALT with Liam O'Maonlai of Hothouse Flowers and Andy White would be a real treat. Their material is very soulful and "What You've Done" is incredibly Beatlesque.

Which of Tim's solo albums is most like ALT?
