  3. Slightly better for the cover, if its not already the gatefold or something.

Looks like he blew chunks after drinking one of those unicorn Starbucks thingy's and smoking a cigarette.

How do we know 8/18 is the release date?

    Definitely the worst cover artwork!

I heard a sample somewhere a few months ago and the music reminded me of something you might hear while roller-skating with your grandparents. Isn't there a collaboration with Andy Partridge?

Instantly reminded me of this Bjork album cover.

Can't wait, love the artist, love the "Pariah" clip with Ninet, not so sure about the album cover if that is indeed the final product.

What I can't stand is the current state of album release cycles, this thing is three months away and half the tracks will probably be preorder "singles" before that, if the whole album doesn't just leak early (HCE leaked over a month before its release date).

I was really hoping the move to Caroline would not involve some sort of bloated hype machine but here we are.

SW intentionally moving in a pop direction has me nervous.

Raven and Hand were both brilliant. Fingers crossed...

By the way Steven do we get a discount if we bought the Delerium Years boxes? Sort of like a reunification payment for the paint?

Those of us that have been listening to SW's music since the PT days know that he's had plenty of poppy moments. It wasn't really until Grace For Drowning and Raven that his music sounded more like 70s prog. And there are poppy moments on all of his solo albums other than Raven (my least favorite...when I want 70s prog I'll just turn on some King Crimson or Yes or Genesis).

It made me think of Bjork as well, because it's the sort of bizarre premise she might pull off. Unfortunately that paint pigment thing looks like something from a YouTube channel that's paying off the downpayment on someone's slow-mo digital camera.

Oh I know... I love "Stupid Dream" as much as the next person.

You may go throw on Genesis when you want prog. I'll go throw on someone else when I want "pop". Personally... I thought his EP 4 1/2 (and HCE) were perfect examples of how to mix the pop-prog together effectively.

As for Raven... it's a masterpiece.

I think he took the prog-oriented thing as far as he can on the last couple albums. I certainly don't think this will in any way be a "pop" record, just a bit more song-oriented. It seems like a natural journey to me after doing a full-length prog concept record. IMO the best run of Porcupine Tree albums (Stupid Dream, Lightbulb Sun, and In Absentia) all contained 10-12 songs and were in this vein, so I don't think there's anything to worry about here.

Steven could do a Gangsta Rap album and I'd still buy it.

Wow, a remake of a Kinks album...This will be good. But I didn't know he liked the Kinks that much. More than Genesis, it appears.

Looks like we'd have to wait a few more days until the official announcement.
BTW, the official album cover is one of the worst I've ever seen. So don't keep your hopes up. It's much worse than what's been teased by Lasse so far.

Much better than all the other "paintball" ones

Not specifically, but one of the sites (now taken down) had listings for vinyl, cd and blu-ray. Seeing as there is a blu-ray as well as a deluxe edition, and it's SW....I think 5.1 is a sure bet.
