I don't like the colorizing. IMO

It will be the first SW album that I've bought on vinyl...twice. :sigh:

Forgot I'd ordered the black LP from Burning Shed, then later ordered the coloured vinyl version from HMV. :help:

I'm always a vinyl-first guy, except for SW. Since he's one of the only ones who sells his blu-ray albums as (wonderfully reasonably priced) standalone releases, I go with that, since I want the surround and I'm not really into owning albums more than once. I wish more artists would give me that option.

We get it, you hate the album. Give it a rest.

Not everyone is going to like this album ans SW even acknowledged this himself. IMO I think this album is great. I find it really grows on you the more you listen to it. I really like this album a lot and love every track. Im bot a big fan of the cover myself in fact the only SW solo album cover I like is Insurgentes.

Sorry, I misunderstood you, I thought you meant the artwork was copy cat, not the album.

Though I fail to see what the album's copying, either; given that no two tracks on it sound the same and they can't ALL be copying someone else!

    Just spun the vinyl-
I did not listen to any tracks prior to this -
Only read some comments here -
Have to say: WTF are people bi***ing about? (OK - some people)
I played it LOUD - and this lp rocked.
I prefer his prog songs - but this is in no way some major departure -
It is easily identifiable as Steven Wilson.

It is simultaneously inventive musically and influenced by past rock sounds - which is what he's always excelled at - particularly with Porcupine Tree.
I hear more PT here than the last two Wilson releases.

The vinyl itself was pressed well and sounds great - even at very loud volumes - 45 rpm - great clarity - everything comes out of the black.
    Highly recommended.

Aye, pretty much exactly what I said (except I was listening to a 320kbps mp3, not the vinyl)...I don't expect to see my Special Edition box before Monday though!

    No downloadable alternative this time?

That's what you call pure art and that's the point. The guy dedicated his whole life perfecting his art! Never looked back or changed his style to please whomever didn't like his playing style.

Any recording from the 1988 Berlin festival is a treat! Faut vraiment en faire l'écoute!

Back to the SW cover, I find it quite original since I don't recall seeing any other record cover like it lately if ever (the xtreme colour tratement). Interesting usage of warm and cold colors.

So can we assume it's on the way...I assume this will be sent by courier or something? Guess it would be reasonable to expect it within 7-10 days maximum here in OZ then.

I am usually ending up having the vinyl and either the cd or the hi-res file for commuting purpose. I didn't bother to get 4 1/2 on vinyl as it is an EP or Transcience as it is a greatest hits.

Now, I am reconsidering acquiring TTB on vinyl. Does anyone knows if TTB vinyl comes with a CD quality download?

  22. On burning shed it says 'Comes with a download card'. Not sure if they are 320, FLAC, or hi res downloads. I'm guessing a choice between 320 or CD lossless.

I'm sure Transcience came with a FLAC download; I could be wrong though.

The other albums came with a download card. The files were FLAC, but not hi-res.

(My CD shipped from Amazon US with anticipated delivery tomorrow.)
