Here's a favorite of mine. It's actually much funnier and more inventive than the film it's plugging:

This one is notable for containing a scene not in the released film

This features an appearance from legendary director Ernst Lubitsch (notice how short he is). Lubitsch was not new to being before the camera -- he started out as a silent film comedian in pre-WWI Germany.

Frenzy's trailer should be in the dictionary under 'macabre'.

Not trailers but TV commercials. These are funnier than the movie itself:

I've been listening to the few surviving episodes of Jack Webb's short-lived 1951 radio series Pete Kelly's Blues. It's probably the best thing he ever did -- radio, not TV, was Webb's true medium -- and he made a not-so-hot film version in 1955. Here's the trailer -- I like it when they go behind the scenes instead of just showing clips:

Note the description of Webb as "Today's most exciting entertainment personality".

    Another classic from Jack Webb:

I love how they stand around listening to the audio clips -- Jack must've thought he was back on the radio

This is one of my favorites. It has everything: monsters, rockets, hype, suggestions of, but no promise of sex scenes, all in glorious black and white and cheap-o effects.

Gun aficionados will especially enjoy this short film, technically a trailer for the the classic western Will Penny. Hosted by Charlton Heston, and featuring an appearance by legendary fast-draw artist Rodd Redwing:

This seems to be some sort of work print before the voice over and captions were added. Features a specially shot bit with Charles Laughton.
